a6 tranny shift properties.

I was messing with my trans settings via hp tuners and came across something you might find interesting.

The shift properties for D and S mode are the same. However TUTD gets its own shift properties. Its labeled as shift pattern y for drive and sport and shift pattern x for TUTD.

When the weather allows I will change my S mode to X to see if it feels any different. Of course I will have to set my trans back to stock again to notice if it does anything.

I noticed that too!

I just modified the TPS vs. MPH downshift lines to make the car more aggressive. I also raised the 0 TPS downshift speeds to use engine braking. Works GOOD!

By shift properties do you mean shift times? Because these are in fact different between S and D.

I'm going to need a much more thorough explanation of this. I am completely unfamiliar with HPTuners.

I dont remember off the top of my head, Ill look at it again in the morning. It wasnt shift times I dont think. I zeroed all those out.

Mines tuned for a yank 3600 and the whole car feels new. Ill send it to anyone that wants it. The tuning school only charges $79 for the a6 tuning book, I may grab that to fill in the gaps of things I cant figure out.

Doesn't this tranny go into "Non Adaptive mode" if you zero them out? I know if your adders/multipliers end up giving you a zero thats okay. But adaptive mode is far superior/safer than manual mode.

Well again I dont have my tunes or logs with me, but I believe I was looking at stock c6 tunes and noticed the shift times were zeroed out there as well. Again Im going off the top of my head. But with them zeroed out I was logging .1 second shifts. Ill post it up so you can look through it tomorrrow.

I looked through g8 tunes, commadore tunes, ctsv tunes and vette tunes to compare what they did differently.

I also noticed a lot of missing tunes from the repository. I knew I should of snagged more of them.

.1 sec shifts are very impressive. I've only been able to see .200. Are you running any TM?

My 2-3 was hitting .1, I think everything else was .2-3. I also noticed that all my factory 1-2 2-3 3-4 upshifts were already set at .0 from the factory.

So looking at the shift patterns for d/s /tutd

You have different patterns for them that pretty much changes the shift pressures for the trans at different temps and torque amounts. From the factory the camaro uses the same pressure for d/s and a different pattern for tutd, which when you open the tables the pressures are identical in all but one box, so thats a moot thing to change in the end, unless you want to make two distinct transmission feels for your car.

As far as my tm settings, the only tm I have on is "power downshift" "garage shift" and "neutral down skip".

I did just catch a few things going through my tune that I need to tweak that I didnt know about on my first go around with the trans.

Apparently there is another beta out that has more trans controls. Im going to stick it out with this one until the offical os comes out, seeing as I cant really beat on my car anyways in the cold. Theres not much I could do to tell if I like it or not.
