mods to get the Maro ls3 back to 436 hp
those anyone know how to get the 8 hp back on the camaros LS3 ? Also will the exhaust system made for the corvette said to increase an extra 6 hp would it also work in the camaro? I'm thinking theses mods can get me and extra 14 hp right of the bat. my goal is to get 500 hp,
but the very first thing I'm going to do is take the hideous engine covers that the camero currently has. get new ones |

You could probably get back 20-hp off a decent cold air intake kit alone. K&N makes cold air kits for the Challenger and GT500 that add more than 20 horses.

here is the deal. the corvette and the camaro are going to share the ls3 and the same engine ordering code. it costs more money for them having two different models of the same engine laying around. so really the engine will be downgraded on paper but it should be the same engine. its more of a marketing thing, they want people to buy the v8 with the afm so the need to close the hp gap so it looks more competitive. thats just my opinion

I'm sure the CAI and catback will get you to at least the 436.

All you really need to do is tune it, but why tune something you haven't modified? Make sure to add a good exhaust, headers, and an intake (ignore intake if you plan on forced induction).

You want to make more power than an LS3 C6? Intake/Headers/Exhaust. You want to make 500 at the crank? Add a cam and valvetrain to that. You can do this all for 5000 dollars, and that gets you everything. Intake, Headers, Cat-Back, Cam, Valve Springs, Rockers, Tune, & Clutch (You're gonna need a clutch if you plan on pushing the car). Additional bonus....great sound and possibly a nice lopey idle. Lets people know you mean business. |

In some pictures that came out a while back, the V6 had an X-pipe. But the new performance cat-back picture shows only one pipe. Hopefully the picture was just a generic one. The V8 is going to have an X-pipe isnt it? I hated that damn Y-pipe.

Did anyone else notice the $3K+ custom billet intake on the Lingenfelter? Those add some HP and drivability (similar to a ITB setup) for HUGE cost...
Also K&N's have been proven to let more dirt through at the cost of increased airflow. Paper filters have been proven (LS1 style) to 500+ HP without sand making it to your cylinder walls and valves... |

None. It just gives you p33n0rz size.
I am of the opinion that FAST makes the best choice (price, design, gains, quality) for aftermarket LS intakes.

I think a cat-back and/or intake will get you that and more.
