Done the same thing with all the six speeds I've bought for the past 10 years or so. In the time it takes to complain about, it can be bypassed for under a buck. I'll take that any day versus paying the gas guzzler tax. |

All you have to do to avoid the system is accelerate the exact same way you currently do (fast/slow/prius) and instead of shifting at 3/16 throttle (18MPH) you wait until you're at 5/16 throttle (22MPH). The ONLY thing you change is the amount you press in before you shift. You don't take off any faster and you don't do anything crazy. Just press in a tiny bit more. Easy! |

The reason we HAVE this dumb feature on our car is BECAUSE some idiot beaurocrat politician GOT INVOLVED where they have no business. Instead of spending $30 on a skip shift eliminator, donate the $30 to the campaign of someone willing to put an end to these stupid intrusions on our lives! |

Thank you for posting the resister solution.
My 2 cents on the bypass I dont like it but I dislike the gas guzzler tax more. Since this is easy and cheap to fix I would rather see this solution then have to pay a gas guzzler tax. In the end, for me with my driving style I still have not seen this issue yet. |

Don't shift so early and it will not happen. If you just have to shift around 15-18 mph into 2nd, then I guess you will need the skip shift.

If the hill is steep enough for the car to stop rolling forward and begin to roll backward in the 0.5 seconds where skip shift is active then you probably would have stalled in second gear anyhow, since the hill must be a 45% grade or you were going under 10MPH. (Law of common sense)

If I want my car to dictate how I shift, I'll get an automatic. BTW - you still avoid the gas guzzler tax if you make it easier to bypass. That's all the OP is saying. Not sure why people are so hell bent on not making it easier - unless they just feel more comfortable having their car tell them when, and where to shift. And feel compelled for everyone else to either drive like them or give up the freedom to choose their own gear.

I was going to post the same exact thing! Same thing happened to me. At a red light in first. Light turned green forced me into fourth on the shift and the car fell on its face. Luckily I didn't stall it as I pushed the clutch back in before it stalled and through it back in first. Very bad situation while sitting in the middle of the intersection! |
