What's the best track car uder 40 gs?

So I'm basically looking for the best track car out there, stock, under for 40 grand. I know that the best are the ZR1 and the Z06, but both of them are over my limit. I'm not looking for anything that special.

What I'm looking for -

Under 40 grand
Stock
At least, a V8
Rather easily modable

What about an 04-08 STi? not a v8 but awesome all around track car. I would do a used Viper if it has to be a min of 8cyl.

Preferably, though it doesn't have to be, just something that wasn't driven like it was stolen. I'm definitely not interested in getting a used car with a f***** engine or tranny. But if it's in good condition and happens to have low miles, then I'll take a look.

The only thing is that I would prefer an american or german car. But, if we are talking about japanese cars, I'm not sure if an sti would be the best bang for the buck. I mean I like the sti but evo seems cheaper

Preferably, I would like a viper too. I'm just not sure if I can get one cheap enough, unless it's from the 1990s.

That's pretty much what I'm thinking. I'd rather have a m3 as my daily driver, but due to all porsche's being mid-engined cars and being relatively light weight, any porsche will do

Why wouldn't you get a 2SS Camaro? Should be about under that after taxes on a 2SS RS.

2011 Mustang GT with the Brembo brake package might save you the trouble of needing two cars if it turns in the M3-like road course times it is rumored to be capable of.

My track car is a Porsche 911tt and works for me. Also, a used Cayman would do the trick also. By the way only the Cayman and Boxster are mid engine. The 911's are all rear engine! Unfortunately they are all 6 bangers (although my tt puts out about 525 AWHP).
Also, have seen a few Camaro's at the track. A bit of suspension work, a little brake modification and you have a pretty good track car.

Well the thing with the camaro is that right now I happen to be a college student, but after college I happen to have a chance of just taking a break, as I already happen to have enough money for that saved up. So for a while, I happen to have the possibility of looking into becoming a professional race car driver. I know it sounds corny and all that, but since I have the possibility, I'll take it. Unfortunately, I will have to slowly start building a name for myself, and I just don't see the ss camaro winning that many races. I mean if the z28 would come out, then that's a different story. But from my point of view, a stock 2011 ss will need a lot of work before it's ready to start smokin everything else at the track.
