This is truth. You almost have to do it on purpose. If you go to 1800 rpm or so in first gear you may see it flash briefly but it will let you into 2nd.

I don't think GM COULD make it any easier to fix. I bought the $25 part, pulled into a muffler shop, the guy working there guided me onto the hoist, and he plugged in the "eliminator".

Took about 2 minutes. When I offered to pay him, he said, "don't worry about it, nice car."

The Goverment B.S. is cured for $25, and saves about $1200 in extra taxes. I wish ALL of life's problems could be solved this cheaply and easily!

Caution: It is possible to plug the eliminator into the WRONG solenoid (the lower front one which I believe is the reverse lock-out), The correct solenoid is mounted near the top center of the transmission. All units come with detailed instructions................

A fuse pull or swap doesn't require a muffler shop, hoist - and believe it or not, most shops don't do even minor work for free, so I'd consider that a much easier solution that GM COULD have offered.

I just hope GM adds a simple bypass on the 2011. That way, the apologists will be able to acknowledge that it was a simple and smart fix instead of ridiculously trying to tell everyone that there is only one correct GM-way to drive.

It is simply there to skirt the gas guzzler tax, but you'd think from reading some of these comments that people want you to believe that it actually improves the driving experience . It is a fact that is less safe and more of an annoyance than not having it would be. That's why it's a no-brainer to make it as easy to bypass as possible.

Now, I'd probably be less annoyed if I didn't have to wait until I get my cat back exhaust installed before disabling it, but I don't have access to ramps.

There will never be a simple bypass added by GM. Good god give it a rest already, if you need the damn thing then use it. I don't and I'm not. Nuff said!

Not always an option in traffic.

Don't get your panties in a bunch. Read the first post, and if it is a non-issue for you, stay out of the thread.

You can't remove TC in some Mercs.

Skip Shift is unnecessary, awkward and potentially dangerous. I agree with you, not only should it be bypassed, GM should make it much easier to do so. I understand the politics behind the decision, but I don't understand why they didn't make the solution a simple fuse pull/replacement.
your absolutly correct

It does, instead of paying gas guzzler tax, that money can go to mods.

Like it or lump it, choice between Guzzler Tax, and Skip Shift is not even a choice.

Now, if they don't need it to get past that, then there is no reason to have it. There could be a nice little "Training" thing that tells drivers they don't have to shift into every gear when casually accelerating.

Get the SPL skipshift eliminator, it works fine.

Some of you guys say just give it a bit more gas but not all the time you want or tend to do it. If you are driving just casually and it kicks in, its a real pain in the ass, especially when you're not looking at the DIC. To me the 1st-4th is just a distraction and happens when you least expect it and don't want it to. I want to choose which gear I go into. If I want to save gas and go 1st-4th......I'll do it my dam self!
