A friend of mine owns a body shop, and the first thing he told me about the backup sensors is not to rely on them. He constantly gets vehciles with backup sensors that have rear bumper damage from hitting something in reverse. Its a radar technology, so if your backing torwards an object that is at a 90deg angle it wont bounce back and signal the sensor to beep at you.. If you backup directly at the corner of a (90 degree angled) building you wont hear a peep from your car about the impending impact you are about receive..

Back to the thread - sorry to hear your baby got a ding :(

Do the sensors come standard now? Mine didn't have sensors.

Sorry to see this. The damage looks worse on black.

Good advice! (glad I got a clean bumper w/o 'em)

Sorry 'bout the wall meeting your bumper unexpectedly. :(

I do find that telling the passenger to "get out and tell me when I'm close" helps alot!

Got you beat, I installed my CAI in my driveway, its a slight incline, nothing major. Well I had it in neutral and I turned on the car to make sure there was no issues and everything was fine. Went out to go to work late that night and the camaro had rolled back into my 4runner. Thank god the runner was in the driveway otherwise it would have rolled into the street and hit my neighbors big ass bronco parked on the street. From what I can tell there is no damage but still sucks.

yeah, i forgot to leave that out. usually the sensors are a pain in the neck. sometimes they cry like if i was inches away from something when im parking in reverse. then i get out and check and im a good 3 feet from the object. your explination about the 90deg stuff makes sense. i read in the manual that in order to detect the object is has to be something like 6" from the ground and like 3" wide at least. thanks.

I believe reverse sensors were added around mid year 2009. You might have ordered your car before that.

im not in really good terms with my dealer right now. i just found out that they kept my 20" wheels that my camaro came from the factory. i didnt know that when you pay for the 21" wheels you also get the 20"s. ill just go through ebay. thanks though. maybe for other stuff ill go to a more legit place that isnt trying to rob its customers.

i feel you. when it happened to me i felt like , how could i damage my baby!! i guess it would be a little worse if i woke up to the accident because it would ruin my whole day. mine just ruined my night. the next day i was already looking to fix it. but it does still sucks big time. im just glad it was totalled and no one was hurt. but it sure does feel like it was

Ouch dude. I'd be intolerable for a month. I bet you could find a shop that'll work some magic on that bumper though...

Note to self: Do not rely on backup sensors
