They're expected to add an additional 30 horses. I don't want anything to look obvious when I open the hood, so I may just drop in a high flow filter into the stock box. It may only add 6 horsed or so, but it still equates to a 508 horsepower engine without a blower. I won't add one of those until she's paid for.
I like your plan

How come you dont want it to look obvious you had work done when you open the hood? Haha you have to be one of the only people I've ever heard say that.
Because then you can say you're pushing XXXhp/tq at the wheels ALL MOTOR. That's the real deal Jack! Anybody can strap on a blower in their garage, but to build an effective H/C setup, a lot of thought must go into the valve/piston/pushrod/spring combo and the geometry therein.

Edit: wow, I necroed the first and second post. Good job dummy

Since this thread was necro'd I'll just ask some questions here.

What other driveability issues do people usually have besides idle? Just the way the power ramps up?

Here is a link to the story in GM High Tech Magazine.

http://www.gmhightechperformance.com...son/index.html

Also check out the Novemeber and December issues of Hot Rod Magazine. We had inatalled the GM Performance Parts Hot cam as well as other components. In the second story we talked about the Hot Cam and then insalled a Lunati 233/245 115 LSA cam.

THe GM High Tech article has a lot of good info.

Morning Uncle Robin,

What's up you old man? Left you a message the other day. *Call me*

Did this thread give you a headache? There's so much BAD information in here it would take months to purge it out. Some people who commented really need to read the basics before they post.

The longest thread in history about camshafts

Some L92/LS3 camshaft swap information

Timing Tutorial

Camshaft Terminology

Dot to Dot

Push rod importance

After all this, the point is these engines DO NOT respond the same way as a LS1/LS2/LS6 type of engine. If you don't know WTF you're doing when choosing a camshaft profile, treat it like brain surgery and get someone more experienced to do it for you.

For you APS guys. Here's an article where a *custom designed* camshaft picked up an honest 140+ RWHP in an APS twin turbo G8GT combination. The right camshaft is one major piece to making big power.

GM High Tech Magazine

Choose your camshaft properly and you'll be rewarded. Choose by an internet poll and you'll be screwed.

Ed

Ed, called you and left a message, you must be busy with important customers

Some very good information in Ed's links. Very good reading if you want to dive deep into camshaft development. Ed has a ton of experience.

The only cam that will not void your car's warranty is the one it came with. Any dealer that tells you they can install a performance cam and it has no effect on your warranty is smoking something. The drivetrain - trans, clutch, rear diff, axles... was validated at stock hp. Crank up the hp now with a cam, tuning... now you'll want intake and headers ... show up a different dealer with all those mods and a busted trans or diff and I'll bet you get an estimate instead of a warranty repair. If they need to call GM for repair auth, one of the first questions - any modifications?... please verify it has the OEM programming number... oops.

didn't read the whole thread...

has anyone actually installed the hotcam in a 2010 LS3? If so, was it done at the dealer?

Are there any pics, videos, dyno sheets?

Been saying that since before the cars were released.

See post # 78

But, if your dealer wants to back the warranty that is between you and the dealer.

So after 7 pages of penis measuring I just want to know what cam for an LS3with LT's, CAI and a Maggie 2300\Eldelbrock S\C that has a nice lopy idle while cruising through parent pickup on Tuesday afternoon and runs like a MoFO on Friday night?
