Porsches are nice sports cars, but their reliability isn't the greatest from what I read. There's a guy here at work that has a turbo 911 vert, and that thing spends more time in the shop than his garage. He's driving a different Porsches loaner it seems almost every other week. :(

I'm not a Porsche guy by any means (you could really subsitute european car there too). I'd have a Z06 or a GTR before that car. Once you get up to those level of cars, the regular maintenance etc. really start taking a BIG bite out of your wallet, but to those that can afford them, it's not big deal. I can't so it is, which is why I wouldn't have a used one either.

That's why I can't wait to order our new Camaro SS.

I guess it did.

Maybe I miss the point of these forums. It just seemed like there was a good debate going about the performance of each car. Then a few people were saying the Camaro will hold its own or win because it was engineered at GM or it has a V8 and the Porsche wouldn't do very well because of its cost, or engine sound. Neither of those things would have anything to do with its performance on a race track (unless it had to carry its purchase price in dollar bills in the trunk). I feel the same about people who say well the porsche has to win it is better engineered, or its from Germany, or even it has to be better look at the cost. I saw it as more of a discussion on fact not preference, or which marque I want to win, or like I said, which is a better bang for the buck.

It looked like you responded specifically to me, rather than in general. I hope you can see that I only wanted to direct the conversation back to fact instead of emotion. I think it is a good question

But the reality is you don't . . . I'm joking of course. I'd put my money on a LS3 vs a fully hemispearical head 6.1L.

well considering the fact that in theory the ls3 modualr v8 IS a semi "hemi" anyways....
look at the torque curve of that ls3... it is F.L.A.T. dude... remeber i own a viper srt10 and a charger rt with a 6 speed retrofitted and supercharged with more than 550 hp at the wheels... new rear end, ujoints, blah blah blah... check my f quick... and although i love my dodges, i drove an ls3 corvette TUNED alone... and it pulls harder... much harder... and it doesn't stop... on top of which is very easy to tune... and is fairly safe to do so as well...

end rant...

either way... my camaro will be faster then my viper and my charger... and my 350z... and probably my firebird

horsepower=422 vs 425 challenger wrong
both have IRS = you got it wrong again
gas mialage= who cares if you can afford a muscle car you should be able to afford the gas.
transmission= you are right cuz daimler has not been out of the mix that long. But you can't beat the 6 speed tremec that the challenger uses which the viper and corvette use as well.

I hope it is priced at the rts price but I highly doubt that.

looks is based on personal preference. If you like the look of a cadillac xlr go for the camaro, if you like muscle go challenger (jk).

if you like the look of a horse rear crossed with a hog's face then slap it infront of a charger and take off 6 inches from the frame... then go for a challenger...
