Wow, David...really sorry this happened to you.

Hopefully, they'll have the integrity to do the right thing and honor what they said about paying for it. Hope you weren't hurt at all.

Keep us posted--and good luck!

You should also ask for extra money for pain and suffering while the car is in the shop. Hahahaha.

I had almost the same hit on mine. Something to think about, "will this hit any future carfax that is pulled on your car? The teenage who hit me was legal and it was only about $700.00 and their insurance paid the bill but now my car has a damaged carfax. I would talk to the body shop and see what it take to not let this hit the carfax since it was so minimal. Just a heads up. Sorry for your car.

First off, why is a teenage girl driving a car with no insurance and no drivers license? She shouldn't even be on the roads. I can't afford to have people like this driving around, because it cost you and me a lot of money every year. Is she exempt because her father is retired military? Are we becoming such a liberal country that stuff like this is now acceptable? Last time I checked, I had to have a drivers license and proof of liability insurance in order to get behind a wheel of a motor vehicle, get my registration and inspection.

Sorry about that, but this is one of my pet peeves and I'll get down off my soap box now.

Now as far as your bumper goes, get a quote and get the money from her Daddy because I'm sure that is where it is going to come from. If you don't want it to show up on Carfax as mentioned above and there is only damage to the bumper cover, do the work yourself. Get a shop to color match the original bumper cover and install it yourself and pocket the money you would have paid a shop to do the removal and install of the bumper cover. As long as you do the repairs it shouldn't show up on Carfax if it is a concern of yours.

I found a good shop in Houston. They did great work on the Silverado.

Oh...come on Tag.....give us some info here on how to legally handle these kind of situations in case they happen to us.

I agree with the poster about the fact that they had no insurance or drivers license. You should've called the police and not only got a police report but also got her a couple tickets to let her know she can't be driving w/o a license or insurance. She just got away with it again when she should've been slapped on the hand.

I know it's easier said than done after the fact and this stuff happens spur of the moment and we don't think it all the way through until after we get home and things settle down. I'm not pointing fingers but hopefully the rest of us will remember and learn from these things.

Hopefully the dad will be honest and help you out. I'm not a officer or lawyer but I don't think legally you have any real recourse when it comes down to it. It will just be your word against hers if there is no police report. What sucks is you may end up having to pay out of pocket....otherwise if you claim it you'll probably have to use your un-insured motorist which may ultimately raise your rates.

just an advice
the paint in chevy has an extra code for the perfect match to your paint
many auto shops have the same paint but not the extra code

a camaro5 friend painted his stripes and engine cover had to buy the paint from chevy dealer and have his body shop guy paint it

since the dealer charged more to paint

sorry to hear the bad news:(
