There's a service bulletin for this problem. If you take it to the dealer, they will buff out the scratches under warranty. Apparently it scratches incredibly easily.

I'd be interested in this. I'll try the tint (or maybe some clear vinyl) in the meantime.

Def need to get something rolling on this...I will let you know what the dealer says tom about buffing them out or switching out the radio...Buffing would be an easier fix for sure...

Just have the dealership cut some thin clearbra to size and cover the faceplate. Worked for me.

This is what I was thinking. You can purchase the stuff and cut it to size.

FYI there is no service bulletin when I called around and talked to several dealers around the area. They stated it just says to clean the radio with a fine microfiber cloth. Nothing about buffing them out under warrenty.

Meguiars makes some plastic polish that will completely remove fine scratches from plastic. I've used this on instrument panels, watch bezels, and tail light lenses before. It works wonders and doesn't just fill in the scratches.

I called and talked to Scoggin-Dickey here in Lubbock and even provided the number. The service manager didn't doubt that there's a TSB about it but made sure to emphasize that it is not under warranty. The TSBs are just 'notes' that GM has found that there is indeed an issue and how it can be handled by a dealer. This is what he told me in a nutshell.

That being said, I'll probably just buff them out and get some clear protector as so many have mentioned before and just go that route.

Conversation didn't really get that far. I'm assuming since he said it wouldn't be under warranty they COULD do it but it would cost me. As this is something I'd be willing to do/try myself then I didn't feel the need to ask. :(
