Use an air popper, pop your popcorn, followed by melting real butter (in that defective microwave). It tastes so much better that way.
No burning popcorn, and it only takes about 15 seconds for butter. Problem solved

This just happened to ours too. Plate broke. We tried to make popcorn without the plate....burnt.
Threw a plate in there and made it fine. Both bags outta the the same box. Bonnie wins...at least your car is faster...right?
