While a lot of people on this site may have bought their Camaro with the intention of taking it to the track the overwhelming majority of Camaros sold will never set foot (rubber?) on one. This site is not at all representative of the average Camaro owner. I personally am getting one because I fell in love when I saw the original concept and have had to have one ever since. It will be stock until the day it leaves my possession (mechanically that is, never said anything about cosmetic changes as I'm really hoping a good afterburner tail light will hit the market as well as a spoiler with a third brake light built in) and will be owned purely to be enjoyed for the amazing work of engineering and design that it is. So to answer your question, yes, there are some of us who have bought it/will be buying it for the same reason as you and no it doesn't have to be a V8 to be a Camaro. Anyone who says otherwise is a fool.

Best performance/price muscle car on the market right now is the reason I bought it.

I had to have it when i saw it in the first transformers movie and i wanted it to be my first car...gonna try to keep it as long as i can...I bought a 2LT/RS cuz its my daily driver and having a v8 would be expensive to fill up...and plus being 19 still in college I couldnt afford a v8 :(...im pretty sure my camaro will never touch a race track...

Mine is a vacation/road trip car. The Tercel does the I5 weekdays. Also I have owned 4 other Camaros. So it's sort of a replacement as well as my very first new car. No way I'm spending $33K for a daily driver. Just to have it killed in rush hour traffic.

it replaced my last camaro as a weekend, track once in a while, fast street car, fun toy car

and yes it had to be the SS, ive had a v6 camaro before, and wanting the above things, i was mad i just didnt wait, save and buy what i really wanted the 1st time

my last camaro was a heads/cam/stalled auto LS1, and as much as it did everything i was looking for, the cam killed street manners. i had planned on a blower cam swap and switching to a procharger, but once i saw the new one, i thought; more power, more engine bay room, more room inside, better ride, im just gonna upgrade the whole car

will i modify this one too? maybe, but alot more research is going into part selection this time, let everyone else do the testing and make the mistakes.

Even as a daily driver I couldn't do it in a prius. Spending 45min each way in a car that didn't make me happy would end up killing me. I still would like to drive my 69 ss vert every day to work but could never afford the gas or the rocking from the suspension. The V6 fits the bill for a daily driver and holds it own against V8 out there. Permagrin Baby !

Non daily driver in winter, daily driver otherwise. Bought my 2SS/RS for the look and the power. But I will be taking it trackside once I get all my upgrades done. I may not be the norm, but I love it!
