Top Speed & RPM per gear
I saw a list of top out speeds per gear on here for the SS a while ago and am having trouble finding it, anyone remember that or what section it was even in?
Thanks .

There is a graph running around here that shows RPM/MPH for each gear, is that what you're talking about?

I was hoping someone else would post it. I saw it here on the general boards, but I don't remember anything about the thread. If I HAD to guess I'd say look in either transmission or the differential boards. If you change your gears there is bound to be someone asking what RPM you would be running at a certain speed.

Per Road & Track June 2009 Camaro SS test: 1st 6500 RPM 52 MPH 2nd 6500 RPM 76 MPH 3rd 6500 RPM 110 MPH 4th 6400 RPM 155 MPH* 5th 5400 RPM 155 MPH* 6th 3650 RPM 155 MPH* *Electronically Speed Limited I believe Road & Track's "hard numbers" to generally be accurate. Obviously, with a simple electronic tune you could remove the "Top Speed Limiter" (and your warranty!) to increase the top speed in the last three gears.

I've posted a graph of this before. It was in a thread titled 'best gear for 75 mph' or something like that. The graph is for an M6 SS. I can throw it up after work today along with a couple others. If you want one for an auto I can throw that together too.

This one? I posted this in one of the camaro vs. mustangs thread "Prove moderators wrong". The 2010 SS numbers are mildly different from what ART-2008 posted....probably due to a small difference in tire diameter that I have on record.

As promised...
Assumptions: 1. Drivetrain Losses: 15% 2. Driver weight: 225 lbs (I wish...gained a few since I wrote this code. Working on getting back down!) 3. Altitude: 935 ft above sea level 4. Camaro SS, M6, LS3 torque curve approximated from here Limitations: 1. Rotating mass is not accounted for; however, this will have negligible or no effect on top speed calcs, only acceleration. Numbers do seem fairly consistent with g readings taken on Hennessey's quarter mile run shown on YouTube (As Seen Here). 2. Due to transient nature of launching the car from a standstill and my lack of knowledge in this area (I'm an EE not an ME, cut me some slack!), the graph starts at 1000 RPM in each gear. Speed vs RPM and theoretical top speed of each gear (not drag limited) Net Accel vs Speed and theoretical, drag limited top speed of stock 2010 Camaro SS with speed limiter tuned out Yes, by my calcs, the theoretical, unlimited top speed occurs in 5th gear and is 175 MPH. I didn't show it on the graph, but 4th gear would be good for about 163 MPH at the rev limiter.
