Stock SS Exhaust Note
At first I thought I could deal with the stock exhaust for at least a year or so but now that I'm settling in and used to the car I dont think I can last much longer. It just doesn't have any tone to it whatsoever and I've even had two people tell me the Mustang GT sounds better (although they quickly tell me they know its not as fast haha).
The other day I was driving away from the office and one of my co-workers was walking out to his car. He told me to rev it and then when I did he just said "Damn....you have got to replace that exhaust, all I hear is muffled engine and fan noise. That is a V8 Right?" He was just kidding but it hit a nerve! Also another one of my co-workers has a STOCK 4.7 Ram 1500 and it has a deeper tone by far which is hard to believe. I wonder why GM kept the exhaust note so conservative? It doesn't seem like the general Camaro fan base would gravitate toward the "as quiet as possible" angle but I could be wrong... Not a rant just leaning toward ordering an exhaust sooner than later. So far I haven't heard any in real life and youtube does no justice but the consensus seems to be Corsa.

I agree with you, at first I thought the exhaust was pretty good, but this spring I am gonna get a catback system. Not sure which one yet though

I'll admit that it sounds nice starting up, but that's it IMO

That is why I put my SOLO PERFORMANCE MACH X in within the first 1000 Miles, I enjoy the car 10x more now!

I recently installed a Magnaflow system and it transformed it into a car that sounds as good as it looks. Great quality and warranty. I installed it myself and it fit perfectly. You can't go wrong with a nice tone.

From everything I have read, the stock mufflers flow real good. Flowmaster 40 series will give you a good deep tone (I have them on my Dodge Dakota V8), but you won't gain any power. GM did a good job of developing a non-restrictive muffler, but could have improved on the sound.
However, I seen in Car and Driver that the decibel reading at idle and anywhere in the power range was a little louder than the Mustang GT. These levels were taken outside of the car and not inside. The Camaro is more quiet inside, but not from what a bystander would hear. GeorgeM |

Thanks tjbusa and so far yours sounds the best. What about drone? I stopped driving my last car on long trips because of how bad cabin drone was in the cockpit. So far I've heard the Coras and Borla S has little or no drone. Are these considered the quietest exhausts out there for the Camaro SS? I definitely am staying away from the "loudest" choice this time. Fun for showing off and THATS IT.

No drone to speak of, I made a video at 72 mph and the tach was at 1800, no drone and I had the radio a/c off, just a slight note and road noise . With a 6 speed manual, 5th is more suited to that speed and the tach will be about 2300. 1800-2000 is for flat pavement and your lugging the engine if you get into hills so just upshift.

Go figure, I actually like the stock LS3 mufflers just fine. You can make it louder but it still won't sound as good as the Mustang GT exhaust IMO. The LS series engines has always had that motor boat sound to me. The firing order and sound changed when the LS replaced the small block Chevy engine so it won't even sound like the old Chevy engines.
