I need help!

Well I'm 17 right now and I'll be turning 18 in about a month. I was just browsing the web a while ago and I stumbled upon a article on the 2010 camaro. One thing leads to another and I'm with my pops going to the Chevy dealearship to take a look at the camaro. I immediately fell in love with it and that's all I could think about for the past month. My parents were planning on buying me a car anyways since my brother whose in college totalled the car but it wasn't his fault. Some old lady went from 50-0 in the back of our corolla and the damage was so bad it needed to be trashed. But my problem is that since I'm a senior and I took all the hard classes in my first semester (Calc really ate me up but I got through it ) I was planning on working for the rest of my high school career and summer and saving up for a Camaro. I was thinking either a 1lt or 2lt. I don't think ill be needing the V-8 anyways. In conclusion, do you think it's a good idea to buy a $25000+ car? Or should I save up for other things?c

I personally would not recommend saddling yourself with so much debt right out of high school. You're going to need money for college right? I'd buy a clunker and wait it out. I know it sucks, but good things come to those who wait.

Well you only live once, if you can afford it go for it. You don't want regrets, I was in your position and missed the Monte Carlo ss fastback that I wanted. I could have easily got it back in the day but I ended up meeting the woman of my dreams, lol, I just got divorced last year.see how well things work out when you plan them. Point is live now if you can.

Life is a funny question, pretty soon you will start learning alot.

Conservatively speaking, you should save money to live off of during college, because yo will perform much better if you don't have to work your way through it. Graduate college, get a good job, and you can have a car easily, among other things.

radically speaking. Carpe diem. What if you graduate college just to be in a terrible accident and you can never drive again? ....

Such is life

Check the insurance rates first and see if you can afford both payments. I bet insurance will be pretty high. My oldest son will be 16 in 3 years. He will be driving my 78 Bronco

What "other things" could you be saving for? Talk it out with your pops yet?

IMO, There is NO summer like graduation summer.

Do you want to spend it Working, with a Camaro to roll in when your off and on your way to have some fun? Its a sacrifice because you wont be able to do whatever you want to whenever you want to, but you'll be rollin in The 'Maro

If I was you Id get it, and FOR DAMN SURE it would be a summer I would never forget.

You only live once......just don't DUI

AND

By the time your ready you can probably get a slightly used one for a good price

my $.02

Here is a thought: make a deal with your parents - get a scholarship to college - they apply the money they would have spent on college on a Camaro for you.

That is what we are doing for my son. Still waiting if he received scholarships...

Good luck!

hang on...my view is the camaro will always be out there, its the education that is important....It took my 4 1/2 years to earn my masters and I was stuck in the books, computer, and my room studying, writing papers and researching ...you may not have the time to work, study and drive........think about it.....

kid, this is your time to shine bro.. Get your camaro and bag all the chicks! That what I did at your age. I had gotten a brand new silver 1997 camaro and i blacked out windows and lights t-tops, the whole nine (basically what I did to mine now, lol). People might be thinking about the future and in some might even have points but you only live once and live while you can. Join the team bro and go test drive one. Damn, i should sell these things

It's not like I'm throwing away 25k right now, my parents were going to buy me like a 17k corolla and i thought why not earn 10k and just get a camaro?? and the insurance won't too bad, about 250 a month since it's under my mom's name but I feel kinda bad spending all that money. Don't want to be too selfish here

I can tell you through experience that driving this car at 18 is one of the best experiences i've ever had. If your parents are putting up that much money, buy it...no doubt.
