That's good that they allow cool air into the engine bay. They certainly are no deal-killer. Just wish GM would listen to enthusiasts re scoops.

What do you mean. Only on the V6 does the chally not have functioning scoops, on R/T and SRT8 they go strait into the engine compartment for cooling

Just guessing, but I'll bet he means functional as in cold air intake for the engine. This is where horsepower gains are, not in cooling the engine bay a little.

Functional, means it feeds air to the intake, as in Ram air.
I would guess they mean functional as in 2003/2004 cobra vents functional .. they would allow hot air our of the underside of the hood OR they would bring cool air into the engine bay .. it doesn't have to mean it would feed air into the intake ..

And back on topic .. I wish that the vent in the front of the SS would have some sort of function .. I'm just not for non functional scoops or vents ...

with the size of the slit do you think you could feed enough air through it for a ram air set up? especially feeding a supercharged engine?

I like the Dremel ideas, it would cool the engine bay some, and I wouldn't feel like an idiot driving a car with fake scoops. (Except the rear fender vents)

I owned a 1969 Camaro, so the rear fender vents seem OK, because they were fake back then too. A long history of fake vents.

Why do they spare the Corvette of fake scoops, but insist on designing them into anything else they feel appropriate?
It would of been nice to see a cowl hood on the SS and would of looked cool
with that hood all pumped up. The after market world will be all over it. And once we all take delivery we can make it happen, some how ?

the slit is there so you can get a black camaro and stick a red chasing LED light bar in it.

:P

I've got a cold air box on my truck and they make cowl hood the has duct ran threw the hood over to the cold air box. So give it time there will be a hood in are future, just make sure you change the mass air flow sensor.

I'm not an expert on the subject, and when I tried to do the math, I only ended up with nonsensical answers. but in addition to size, there is also the issue of location. A truly functional hood scoop needs to extend above the hood by 2 inches or more, or be right on the nose, not inset several inches. think about the Trans Am. Those 'nostrils' are probably still a bit small for what the Camaro would need. For a supercharged engine, well look to drag racers.

You say it jokingly, but it sounds like a great idea to me.
