2011 Camaro 3.6 vs 2011 Mustang 3.7

From
http://www.lvrj.com/drive/mustang-po...-83012847.html

"The sheer power of the new Mustang engines might only match those of the Camaro, but the Mustang is smaller and weighs a bit less. Even still, the base weight of the V-6 climbs by about 350 pounds to 3,750."

Sounds like the base 'stang engine will be even steven to the base 'maro engine. Gonna be fun in'11!

5.0L 4V Ti-VCT V-8 17/25 (est.) 16/24 (est.)
BASE CURB WEIGHT (POUNDS)
Manual transmission 3,875 (est.) 4,000 (est.)
Automatic transmission 4,000 (est.) 4,000 (est.)
Weight distribution (f/r) 54/46 (est.) 54/46 (est.)

from http://www.autoguide.com/auto-news/2...-liter-v8.html

the new stang is going to be pretty much the same weight as our chubby camaros so I don't see it beating us when our v8's have more power and torque and the v6 is the same pretty much.

weight is off. The actual weight is 3603. And it has been confirmed in magazines, interviews, and just about everything else Ford has on the cars. The order guides are even up now, and all the info is confirmed.

The new V6 Mustang engine actually weights 41lb less that the out going 4.0. Check out the new Road and Track. We have to see the final weight when its released.

That this has been 'debunked' is old news, the Mustang does not weigh nearly as much as those 'early estimates' indicate. In fact, those early estimates weren't actually estimates at all, they were a joke with Ford going for a bit of humor at GM's expense. Think about it. Does about 3750lb for a V6 coupe and roughly 3875lb for a V8 coupe sound familiar to any of you guys? Those numbers are basically spot on what the V6 Camaro and V8 Camaro weighh respectively! Ford was taking a light-hearted jab at their cross town rival GM by posting Camaro curb weights for the Mustang basically saying that the Camaro is a little portly without actually saying it.

Here is a link to Ford's later and more accurate releases of the 2011 GT's curb weight.

http://media.ford.com/images/10031/2...g_GT_Specs.pdf

The estimate for the GT is 3603lb for a 6m car. Of course, the V6 weighs less than the GT does.

the v6 will be the surprise here, with a curb weight of
3400lbs to 3500lbs(most off the nose) and 305hp 280fl.lb of torque.
now when we think camaro and mustang, we think V8's but is nice to see
that we wont get wimpy v6's
