You are correct.

This guy was getting me to race, via revving the engine at me. I told the cop that he was revving the engine and it scared me so I was trying to get away, so he didn't arrest me. And when I went to court for the ticket, he had never turned in the paperwork so it was dismissed

True, but if you can prove your light (whatever reason they pulled you over for) was not true, then you can get everything else dismissed as they did not have probable cause to pull you over in the first place to discover any other violations.

Problem is how do you prove that your light did work If you had been drinking, well your car is impounded and you got problems anyway. If you get a ticket, how are you going to prove in the court of law that it was working at the time of getting pulled over?

But yes, by law if they don't have true probable cause the case is dropped.

84 in a 60 2 months after getting the car, reduced it down to 74. For a motorcycle cop he was very nice, commented on the blind spots and the size of the windows before asking me to sign

74 in a 65 was the one I got the point on
That is HORRIBLE! The judge refused to give Peanut Butter and Jelly to anyone?! Damn, what a heartless bastard!

That's what you hire a lawyer for, let him/her figure out how to prove it.

I have to say though, the few people I am friends with who are police officers will tell you, unless true, they would not use that violation to pull someone over. They will use one that is probably next to impossible to prove, i.e. weaving, illegal turn, something of that nature.

around here they just let ur car sit on the side of the road until someone comes and picks it up. Just don't let it sit there so long that u get one of those STUPID orange stickers (ya know, the ones that don't come off) on ur window by a state patrollman. Those things really make me angry

Then I guess you wouldn't like those fashionable wheel boots either for illegal parking.

you could plead guilty and ask the court for some relief on the points or something like that.

like I said, if you plead not guilty, show for court and the officer does not show up, ticket dismissed. If he does show up, then you have to plead your case.

its going to be hard to plead my case due to the fact that it is the officer's word versus my word...

Got a ticket 12/21 for 77 in a 55. Then again 12/26 for 74 in a 55. Pulled over immediately both times and was polite, and cooperative. No breaks. 1 officer asked "this one of those new ss's?". Still wrote me the ticket, after I sat there for 25 minutes. Probably making sure I didn't steal it. I'm 23, and male, I'll never get a break in this car from traffc offenses; my demographic is just too delinquent.
