Frustrated With Dealers Accessories Parts Prices!!!!
Hey anyone else overly frustrated with these dealer prices for all the accessories available, gouging is not the word. I am wondering if anyone has found any alternatives for getting these parts in Canada other than through our dealers who literally look at you like what do you want from us.....
Ummm I dunno we just fired close to $50 grand a peice for these cars that have been bought all accross Canada how about cut the price in half like in the states....... Like I said anyone have any alternatives to getting these parts. Let me know if you have found a source. Then we can make those parts sellers some money. |

Ummm... Yes! (frustrated that is). $1100 for the friggin' GMPP CAI kit?!?!?!! Are you kidding me? It's bad enough that we have to bend over for our government but then the dealers here are doing the same to us. I guess it's the thanks we get for trying to support a product that's made in Canada (!!!).
Alternatives: (1) Order from the US and pay the shipping and duties - many times it'll still be cheaper; (2) Order from the US and find "another way" (someone mentioned shipping to a UPS store on the other side of the boarder... not that I condone that sort of thing); (3) aftermarket - Few in Canada, Same problem with duties, but generally a lot cheaper; (4) move to the US.

If you have any family or friends in the US...you could order it and get it delivered to them. Then have them ship it over..
I think that would avoid duties. |

I agree.GM's parts $ are out to lunch. Ordering from the U.S. is fine but like said above its the shipping that kills us. If you use Fed Ex, UPS or others not only do you pay your provinces taxs gst/hst ect but they charge you a brokerage fee that is extreme eg: 65$ part-US, ordered from Year One was 173$ (80$ brokrage fee, rest taxes)by the time it hit my doorstep. My suggestion would be to find a local performance shop and order thru them.Even Canadian Tire/Napa/Uniselsect can order Perf parts for you.

We ordered SS badges for the sides....here in Canada $65 for two...states $39 including taxes, shipping to a US desintation. When ordered the CAD dollar was about par...just have to pick'em up at the relatives in Buffalo. It's the way to go.....told the CAD gm parts site to shove it. Funny thing is the parts are made in Woodbridge, ON.....then shipped to the US.......now back......

depends what ur looking for. if ur looking for intakes/ exhaust why go with GMMP? there super expensive compared to others. if ur looking for badges just wait, because the ss, and rs badges are new they are gona overcharge.
not sure about gm dealers but i know mazda dealers are super cheap when it comes to parts. not to mention it helps to be part of a group and sponcered by dealerships that offer special discounts. i would suggest a group of u guys dedicate yourself to one dealership and mention that we wil only by fro u guys if u offer us 20% off each part. it worked with us mazda3 guys it might work for u.

My friend - you touched on this topic once before. If you hate being Canadian so much and like the US, move. No one is stopping you (unless the US customs people do - they give pretty much anyone a hard time these days). But look around dude - People complain about things in their homeland no matter where they live or are from. It's human nature to want something more/better. I am not a Don Cherry type patriotic Canadian. But I can tell you this. If everyone in Canada had just a tiny bit of that patriotic enthusiasm in them, it would make Canada a much better place. I am happy to be a Canadian citizen and wouldn't have it any other way. But that's not b/c I feel something is wrong with being a US citizen, or UK, or French or Japanese any other place. I'm just happy to be here. You're entitled to your opinion and we all rant from time to time (including this). But your comments are a bit much in my opinion. Dude, I've met you only once, and I think you're a good guy. I hope we can have many cruises this summer. But when it comes to this stuff, I think there are a few here who don't like to see comments like that. Turn the negativity down a notch and things will look a little better. OK bud?

My best advice is to be friends with the parts guy at your dealership. Priced GMPP CAI at another dealership $1100... at the one in town $750. They are trying to bend us over.

Uh dudes - when I replaced my 2.5L I4 with a 4.0L I6 in my jeep - I had to buy factory motor frame mounts to weld on.
I went to the Chhrysler dealer - they wanted $72.xx for one side - shocked, but thought okay.... I went across the border to the Chrysler dealer - they wanted 34.xx Suffice to say, I went with the latter But here's the kicker - When they(mounts) came in, I inspected them to gauge they are the ones, and what do I notice on the Part# sicker? *****MADE IN CANADA****** i had a chuckle. SUpply and demand i suppose, i dunno...whatever it is, its balls. But, I'm lucky I live close to the U.S :-) Unless they invade that is... |
