First thing I'd think is it's a drug confiscation. Why do you think they call it "dope"? Some crackhead is sitting in the slam while the cops are out in his ride.

Don't hate the cops because they get to drive a Camaro at work. Ever try to catch someone trying to outrun you when you were driving a Crown Vic? Crown Vics can't get out of thier own way.
And at least with the new Camaro,Chevy probably wont have to offer a special "B4C" pursuit package. The SS already has great power, breaking, and cooling.

Besides...if it's "principal" you're defending here...why just the rims? The car itself is expensive, impractical, and not-needed in a police department. CRUSH IT!
I'm talking about the perception. Everyone is angry about tax money allready. I'm sure the department and the state DO waste the kind of money that make 4600.00 rims for a police car look like peanuts, but it's that attitude imo that continues to set pace.

And IF the car was donated, and I ran the department, then fine. I wouldn't allow it in the patrol fleet. Some other capacity, but not patrol.

That's just me.

If this is the same car that was posted awhile back it was donated for A DAY for a parade or something....

They threw the decals on it for the parade and then the dealer took it back.

I agree if a car was donated for department use then it should be used in another capacity...

Bowling Green police have Corvettes (or they did) that theu use for a things other than patrol and in Ohio in the county where I taught the Sheriff's Dept. had a 4th Gen. that was donated and used as a D.A.R.E car.

When I was picking up my car late Dec, my saleguy told me they were getting in 2 for the local HP as well.

Can you imagine the nads on a dude who manages to steal those rims.

Dear God not this again! This car is a loner from a local dealer with a sticker on it from the police. Your tax dollars didn't go to waste here. It's been posted before!

I would welcome the challenge. The only thing the NJ police have that's faster than my car is their Motorolas.
