I'm surprised that it seems like 95% of you bought SS's for weekend warriors. Am I the only person buying an SS as my daily driver?? lol.

Thanks.
I was getting 14.5mpg with mine in 100% City driving with the most conservative driving. Got soo pissed off, stopped driving it for 2 days. Regretted my decision and thought i shouldve went with the SS because all the SS guys were getting the same MPG doing the same drive with less milage on them.
So i said screw it, drove her hard and my MPG went up.
Still not happy with gas consumption but i love my 2LT/RS, although if i had the money and right conditions, i wouldve went with the 2SS.
If you have the money to shell out, then i would go with the 2SS becuase youll never have to regret it for power or w.e. But if you have the money, go for the 6 and later feel you want the V8, then youll regret it. Its up to you, but the SS can definitly be a DD too. It would just cost a little more but would still be a great DD.
Either way, V6 or V8, youll get a great car, which one is better for you depends on your needs, your wallet and your ego lol

Is this the truth? Sheesh. I would be pissed too. Is this anyone else's experience driving an LT or LS?

2LT 304 hp, 2002 Z/28 only had 310 hp. So with that said no reason to down play pkg 2LT / RS .

I bought my very first Brand new (ordered) car out of college - 1982 Camaro Rs, V6. 5 speed. I regretted then having "settled" for the V6, especially for my first car. It was very underpowered, but I couldn't afford the Z28 - which is what I wanted. I've owned many 4 cylinder and V6 vehicles since this one. Ego, probably. Status, maybe. It's my near future 50th birthday present to myself and I told myself I wasn't going to "settle". I wanted the tops, and wanted the power. It's not my DD, so gas mileage didn't matter to me. I didn't buy it to impress anyone, just to satisfy myself - selfish? Yup...I didn't see a need for the very powerful V6.

I NEVER considered ANYTHING other than the V8 2SS...with all the trim - except the 21" wheels

This debate is kinda pointless... it's like music and beauty.. all in the eye of the beholder

personally... i've been putting v8's into things that shouldn't have them for as long as I can remember. I am a HP junky (or at least consider myself one) I ordered the 1ss because I think it's the best bang for your buck hp/performance car available right now (and dead sexy to boot). I don't like leather seats (mostly because of the climate swings we get here in canada, your either freezing or sticking to them) and I don't need options. I just want a v8 manual in a car I can easily modify when my warranty is up. for this price you cant beat the camaro. In my case I've also grown up around people that had these things growing up and drove the 1st gens in high school etc etc. In my opinion in my lifetime I have not had one of those classics in my life, and this was my chance. I'll keep it forever. and my kids will want to take it to their HS prom. (I"m 25, and suffered the horrible 80's era for cars growing up. lots of cool stuff built, but nothing like the affordable muscle/classics of the 60's/70's)

realistically I never thought I would buy a new car. I've always said you can put 20 K into ANY used car and you will be pumped with the results. But something abotu the concept of this car called to me when I first saw it. and I said "I have to have one" ... that's never happend before.

It sounds to me rad that the LT would be your cup of tea rad, just like the 1ss is mine. if your second guessing/justifying the ss... it's probably not for you and you won't enjoy it like you would an ss.

2LT VS. SS

I would love getting the SS but only having $1100 down plus my rebate of $2,000 from my GM Card and $750 from USAA doesn't add up to much. I could of kept my 2008 Pontiac G6 GXP for other 3 more years and paid off the $15,000 lien on it but I was already getting tired of it since I previously owned a G6 GTP before I had the GXP. I could of waited another 3 years but the value on my GXP would just go down lower and lower. I was ready to downgrade to a SCION so my payments would be cheaper but decided not too and stuck with a Camaro because being invovled in car accidents when I was younger I want to feel safe and I wasn't digging hatchbacks.
I really don't care how fast the car goes that doesn't excite me. I would be more happy with a nice exhaust system, a airbox and a groundeffects kit. When I had my sales manager find me one I wanted it black, sunroof, automatic, leather and with heated seats. He found me one with every option and then I purchased.

I'd be very interested in your experiences.

TIA.
I purchased the 2SS after driving the 2LT several times from July to Oct. I was sold on the the 2LT until I drove a 2SS automatic... then I drove a 2SS manual (the car i actually own). I had my heart set on a Black 2SS Auto but could not resist the look and feel of my Red w/Black Rally Stripe 2SS with 6Spd manual... The 6Spd/man just goves you feel like you are really driving... HOWEVER, I do feel that the 2LT would have been the wiser choice, both economically and drivability in foul weather... There is A LOT of power in the 2SS manual... power that most people would not need. I think my final decision was influenced by me wanting to "have it all" this time around as I will most likely never be purchasing a new car again especialy one of this caliber. Follow your heart... I am not regretting my decision and truly feel that I would have been just as elated with a 2LT automatic....

Out of everything I have read, this scares me. I do not know your or your finances, but sounds like it may not be the time. lots of factors married or single, kids or no kids, have a mortage or not, if so is it adjustible, and do you have 3-6 months emergency cash?

Now the question, The first Camaro I test drove was the LT and have no problems with it. I bought the SS and am very happy with it for 2 reasons.
1. I could afford it and 2. I wanted it.

Buy what you can afford and be happy, not because of what is said here.

I would regret it if I bought an LT instead of an SS.

I am getting an average of 16 to 20mpg with my 2SS 6M... Also my DD with around town commuting, 40 mile round trip each day... On weekends, I am still consitently getting this kind of mileage, even with multiple stops doing errands... the only time I get worse mileage than that is if I am f'ing around and playing too much!
