Yeah ,just like Draco says.. thats the price so go do it yourself... Kragen had mobil 1 and filter for 26 bucks... still have to buy 3 extra qts to hit the 8 qt mark but its still way better deal than getting bent over by the dealer

Same price over here too...right at 75. Another dealer closer to me charges 96 or so for the same damn thing.

About $70 to change the oil in my V8 this weekend. Did it myself. $27 x 2 4-qt jugs of Mobile 1 5w-30, $12 for Mobile 1 filter, sales tax.

It just amazes me how folks love to be ripped off. In my area Belle Tire sells an Amsoil change 5 qts. and an Amsoil filter for about $90. That is a once a year change or 25,000 miles. You want to spend $107 every 5,000 miles for an inferior product? Thats nuts. Sign on as a Preferred Customer and it will cost about $50 to do it yourself on an average car. The Camaro costs more since it is thirsty. About $80 and shipped to your door. Look into your options and compare yearly expenses and product performance. it is silly to use anything other than Amsoil.

Ya right, I'm gonna spend $10+ a quart for Amsoil. Mobil One is every bit as good for $20/ 5 qt container at Walmart. And anyone that would leave their oil and filter in for 25,000 miles is just plain NUTS. Do you know how much acid that the combustion process puts into your oil, not to mention what happens when the filter gets too dirty and plugs up and starts bypassing the dirty oil through your engine. No salesman will ever convince me that you can run your oil and filter that long. NEVER.

Amsoil only here as well. It's not $10 per quart as someone said. With the preferred thing it's only about $7. I'm not gonna get into the debate about how it's not better than Mobil 1, but yes it is. Anyway, 25k is without any hard driving and everyone knows they'll drive their SS pretty hard at least occasionally. 15K miles is plenty long enough, so for the same price most people are paying at the dealer every 5k miles, you get 3 times that with no loss in protection or performance. I'm not an Amsoil dealer, reseller, or fanboy. I've used almost everything out there and found that Amsoils value is unbeatable.

Yeah 25000 is stupid but if you aren't running your car hard you should be changing at 5000 miles like the OP is talking bout. Some people just don't know anything about cars and believe whatever the dealership tells them, what they don't know is that the dealerships are the ones who came up with these intervals so they can keep money always coming in through the maintenace work, because besides selling the car maintenace work is the second largest cash cow to a dealership. And thats why they rather have you coming in on schedules oppose to when the car actually needs maintenace.

And not everyone runs these cars hard because to a lot of us this isn't our first powerful car and pedal to the metal all the time doesn't excite us like some whom have never owned anything with power. I don't ever get on this car.
