Exclamation Water in the doors.

What's up C5? this my my first thread(been lurking around for a little bit), but I noticed something that concerned me about the windows and doors. i went through a touchless car wash the other day and when i was done drove to my girlfriends house. by the time I got there the car was completely dry, I dont remember why but i put the windows down, and when I put them back up they were all wet. My question is would the moisture in the interior of the doors cause any damage or rust from the inside eventually??

thanks

First the water was probably only from the seals. They will stay wet a little longer because as you drive the are not getting "air dried".

But the inside of your door, any door, not just your Camaro is condidered a wet environment. With a window that is designed to go up and down, it is nearly impossible for to keep the water out completely.

If you were to pull the trim panel off of the inside of your door, you would see that it is completely sealed off.

So water can get in the door, but should not get in your car.

To prove this, look under you door. Do you see the slots in the bottom along the hem? Those are intended to drain the water that does mangage to get in.

So water in your door is nothing to worry about...................unless it isn't able to drain out because the drain holes get blocked or damaged.

Hope that helps

Water, snow n ice will get into the doors, unless you made it so the windows never went down and caulked them shut

Just if your conserned, every 3-5 years get an inspection and recoating of rust proofer, in the door, under body and such....

There is a large waxpaper-like barrier inside the door which protects the components from water.

Correct, and this really gets under my skin... beautiful summer day, jsut spent all day cleaning your ride and now you want to go cruise so you put down the windows... At the end of the night when you put your windows up... they look like CRAP!
