Bought the M6 for a couple of reasons.
· It’s a sports car nothing like the feeling of bangin through the gears with ample ponies under the hood. My 1st 68 had a Muncie 4 speed with a built 327. Wish I still had that car but at 16 it got me into more trouble than I care to remember LOL
· Was married for almost 18 years and we could never get a manual trans because of her fear of driving one even after I offered to teach her several times.

Because we all race in a straight line all the time.

I always wanted a muscle car with a Hurst T-handle shifter! I never had a real manual muscle car only an automatic Mopar Sport Satelite back in the day.

For me I would only chose the automatic, or DSG tranny if it was available. I am interested in learning how to drive a stick eventually but I would never personally own a car with a stick. As fun as it might be half the times I wouldn't want to be bothered shifting through my own gears (Tired, traffic, or just not in the mood). If I could buy a transmission that can be automatic or manual I would chose such a transmission, thats why in the future when DSG transmissions become widely available that will be my choice transmission since I get the best of both worlds without the shortcoming of neither. For now the 6 speed auto will keep me happy, especially knowing most modern automatics can out shift any manual. Yes it's true old timers computers are faster than humans. Plus I have the paddle shifters which will entertain me more when I feel a bit bored behind the wheel. Finally when I drive it's good to know I am not one shift away from wrecking the transmission, remember human error. Even the best stick drivers are still human. Anyway I drive with a lead foot, I have enough on my plate without worrying about shifting my gears.

Sorry for being so blunt but I find it ignorant that some here think a car isn't a muscle car without a stick. I know someone from work that has a 67 Camaro SS and it's an automatic, so the automatics been in these cars since day one.

I come from 10 years of a drag racing background, and although I didn't buy the Camaro just for that, I knew it would find its way to the strip from time to time.

I got an automatic because if you want ANY chance of winning at the bracket races...you gotta go auto. Plus I'm not fond of shifting all over town. I've never had the problem that previous posters have had about it "not shifting to the next gear." I don't know what that's all about.

#1. LS3
#2. AFM
#3. I want to drive it.
#4. So much fun with a short throw shifter.
#5. Wife can't drive it.

The first thing I get asked when people see my car is, "Manual, right?"
I'm not a knuckle dragger that bashes anyone's care, everyone has their reasons. It's their car.
Driving an auto is sooo nice though. Just couldn't do it with this car.

All my Camaro's have been automatics and I really love this one because of the tapshift, I feel like I'm playing a life size video game, it's awesome.

I bought a manual, despite having limited stick shift experience (I knew how to drive one without burning the clutch but wasn't very great with it) because I felt a) it would make me more in touch with the car, kind of a more involved driving experience and b) it would just be plain cooler. I feel like I made the right choice although I admit it sucks in heavy traffic and I still feel like I need to work on my high-speed technique a bit; I think an auto would still beat me in a race. But to each his own, everyone has their own reasons for choosing what they did and its a great car regardless

I have the auto because I'm a lazy driver, but monday I pulled up next to a Yellow Camaro/manual. He could not loose me at the light. I was on his butt the whole time. I've still yet to see the big difference other than the 26 hp. Which to me is not a BIG difference.

Got the LS3 for when I want to "drive". I have the CTS (auto) or H3 (auto) when I want to cruise.

Auto vs manual was the only decision I wrestled with when I placed my order. I test drove both trying to get a feel for each.

I finally settled on auto because A) it's more practical in the city where most of my driving occurs and B) it's more practical with all of modern life's distractions (cell phones, mp3 players, kids, etc).

And when I found out the 2SS came with paddle shifters my mind was made up!

I have an automatic and I Love it. I'm almost 40 years old and Live in the Houston TX area. And there is nothing worse than sitting in Rush Hour Traffic and holding the clutch in and out for an hour on the way home. I Would rather have a few less horsepower and have and automatic. Besides with a few mods that loss of horse[power can easily be improved. Are you really gonna be racing your camaro for money? come on man who freakin cares, put a freakin super charger in it and call it a day
