No this is the new GT500 which gets a modified version of the Ford GT engine.

Thats great. But... still costs more and doesn't even look like the old 1965 1966 mustangs. To me still looks like an old SHO taurus with different plastic parts. Ford was right on with the GT and the AC cobra that looks great. I am a FORD guy have always been but they are just dropping the ball with the mustang. and the price for the gt compared to others with better performance what the hell was that? a Z06 vette was sooooo much cheaper and kicked the gt's ass. I just do not get it.

By modified do you mean a factory pulley swap?

Weird I heard a rumor roush's stage 3 on the 5.0 was putting out 617hp.

No I'm talking these two things.

-Plasma Transferred Wire Arc coating on cylinder walls.
-Wet sump system instead of dry sump on the Ford GT

Good for Roush, if you think the 2011 GT500 can only do 550 you're in for an awakening. They made sure it was at least as strong as the outgoing motor. Which has guys putting down way more than 617 to the wheels with no problems.

If you road race yes. If not it's not worth the money you'd lose trading or selling the car outright. You could mod your 2010 to be a much better performer than a 2011 GT500 is stock.

It just would make sense to use a 5.0 to make the car more cost effective imo, but whose complaining with a ford gt motor. What motor is that anyway?

I guess nobody wants to read the article I linked too. lol It's a 5.4 aluminum block just like the iron block motor in the 2010.

Traction is the biggest problem I see with mine. I guess it needs some drag slicks.
Even better street tires should help a lot. I'm looking at the Hankook V12 or Michelin PS2 as replacements as soon as I burn through my Goodyear Super Slow tires.

The biggest improvement comes for the vert. guys. It brings them up to the same level as the coupe.

But, I know what your saying. Mine in stock form seems to have trouble ,but I haven't had a change to drive it in above 40deg temps yet like SVT claims you need too for the goodyears to work right.
You picked the wrong video. That car is well into the 9's now! However, I don't want to have to run around on drag slicks all day.

I am going to the dark side. My 81 Z/28 will not have a Z/28 stable mate.

Sorry GM to little to late again, I waited for the Z/28 for as long as I can. I am sure the Dealers will screw everyone over for a few years just like they did the Shelby and SS.

I just place my order for a 2011 SVT Shelby GT500. I am paying invoice price. You can hardly mod a SS with a super charger for that AND still keep your warranty.

Off to the Mustang Forums.
