Wow I just found this forum and wanted to say what a weath of camaro information. I am a salesman at John Thornton Chevrolet and would like to let forum members know that if they have any questions about the pre order process I would be more than happy to assist you in any way I can. I like every one can't wait for this Camaro to hit the showroom floor.
thank you

Dude when you get you insurance coverage you might want to see if they have some kind of cause that pertains to the passenger. One of my boys got into a crash from his GF playing around in the car hint, hint. He lost control and crashed and is now a little less of a man, if you get my meaning. the insurance plan he had would not cover him for that reason. I don't know what you current relation ship status is bro and it is non of my business. But just something to think about.

How about informing a dealer in my home town...

Rick:

Thanks for inquiring about the New Camaro. My name is Willie Love. I am the GM Certified Internet Manager here at Butch Oustalet Chevrolet Cadillac.

The Camaro will not be in dealers stock until March-April 2009. When we receive material on the vehicle, I will be happy to provide you with information on the car. In the meantime, you can log on to Chevy.com to follow the production time line of the Camaro.

Thanks for your interest in the Camaro.

Sincerely,

Willie Love

Thats the reply I got when I asked how their dealership was handling the Oct. 13th order. Very disappointing.

a word from the wise.

while you may be the cool guy with a nice ride when you get the car... less you parents are pitching in half of the overall price to keep your monthly payment below 300 a month, some things you might want to consider:

-30k over 4 years @ 7.5% is a $725 a month finance payment.
-insurance on a clear licensed 19 year old driving a 425hp v8 will be at least $200 a month
-depending on driving distance, your gas cost per month at 3.50/gallon will be $120 a month.

now, that alone is $1045 per month for you to have an ss.

that's not even that bad. you can push and pull those numbers with different things (parents help/large downpayment, better insurance, better prime rate, longer finanace terms) but one way or another, you need to be making 2000 a month to live normally outside of the money that goes into your car.

so unless your making 18/hour doing something; just a cautionary heads up. you may want to go down a little bit of a humbler path then a 30k car at the age of 19; not because i dont want to see another 2010 v8 out there somewhere, but because working a 40 hour week (regardless of pay) + school + a social life = alot of pain.

like i said, a word from the wise. buy a top line ss when you can afford to spare the money (like i can via having worked my ass off by the age of 23, so that next feb... an ss isn't gonna hurt my pockets).

your young, dont tie yourself into working like a horse when you should be off drinking with girls and having the time of your life.

----

in any case, best of luck. i'm throughly jealous of your opprotunity to sit in the car.

First post, just thought I'd revisit this topic.

I'm 19 years old, turn 20 January 4th coming up. At the age of 18 I bought a 2003 Mustang GT with 17" Chrome Cobra wheels, tuned engine, maxed out bolt-on's and a short throw. I bought it with 13,000 miles on it for 16,900$ (a steal for the given market at the time). I had everything planned out, also went to school full time in Biological Chemistry Pre-Med (University of Texas at Arlington) and had a great paying full time job. Well man, I was the tits with my loud mouthed rear-wheel smoking screamer sittin' on chrome at the time.

That car caused me nothing but heartache with my 400$ a month payment+200$ insurance and the gas mileage on a V-8 is even less forgiving now with the market what it is. My advice is this, while you're making a great investment, and it is certainly something anyone our age with a head on their shoulders would want, but double check your plans. Triple check your plans. Because when something goes bump, and that job stops paying the way it did, or your grades drop, or you finally just can't take the stress anymore, it's gonna be a little tough for your parents to bail you out of 20,000$.

Not to mention, at 19..you know you're going to put well over 10k miles on it your first year, showing it off, dates, offering to drive the party home. It adds up, there's more restraint to owning a car of this value and performance than I think you're evaluating.

Just my 2 cents, but I trust that when you triple check your plans for this car they'll be just fine and you'll just have one kickass SS in the end. As for me, I'm rebuilding my dad's 73'. :]
