That's my choice and that's what I wanted. I'm glad you like options you chose on your car.

But wouldn't you love to have to be interupted by having to shift??

Considering that the top 10 right now for stock are mostly manuals, what do you think?

(Top 30 in each category)

Stock

2. nhra stocker - 12.62 @ 110.30, (LS3, M6)
3. b20 - 12.81 @ 108.73 mph, (LS3, M6)
4. speedy6963 - 12.87 @ 109.08, (LS3, M6)
5. 8ty8ls1 - 12.97 @ 107.61 mph, (L99, A6)
6. 1stGM - 12.98 @ 107. 34 mph, (L99, A6)
7. blufin - 13.03 @ 109.20 mph, (LS3, M6)
8. SSmokey - 13.04 @ 110.80 mph, (LS3, M6)
9. NineBall - 13.07 @ 109.07 mph, (LS3, M6)
10. Kathy63 - 13.07 @ 105.84 mph, (LS3, m6)

The automatic is faster in the quarter mile, but the margin is very small.

No, it isn't. See the above times. 8 out of the 10 top quarter miles were done on manuals. As others have said, the Automatic will be more consistent, but the M6 is the faster car with a good driver.

The A6 will 'generally' have an easier and more consistent launch... coupled with the lower gearing will typically be a little faster to 60mph.

But, the extra HP and more efficient power transfer through the tranny allows the M6 to catch up in the quarter mile and beat the A6 by a tenth or two.

So, all things being equal - A6 quicker to 60 mph... M6 quicker to 1/4 mile.

P.S. neither are 'faster'... both are electronically speed limited to 155 mph!

I'd like to know how many L99s have bben to the track as apposed to how many LS3s. I'll bet there are FAR more manual guys at the track. Those numbers can be scewed. This thing could get resolved at the fest. Depending on how many cars there will be stock. Should be plenty of autos there.

I believe when Motor Trend and Car and Driver tested both the SS cars out, they got the Automatic quicker in the 0-60 launch but the manuals won the quarter mile battle.

All things being equal, with 426 HP (stock for the M6 and modded for the A6) and tuned, the auto will run faster in the quarter mile and pretty much any length of whatever track you want to put it on.

It is physically impossible for a human to shift faster and more precisely than a properly tuned automatic transmission.

talk about peeing up a rope. If you own a m6 your not going to convince a a6 that yours is better unless the other uses the excuse that the wife made him cause she doesn't drive a stick!

I have an m6 ordered but I am curious as to which one is faster?????? Anybody know? acceleration of course!
Folks, notice he did say at "acceleration of course", if that's the case the automatic is faster. As many have stated, it has better launches and because of the computer doing the work for you, shifting is more precise and consistent, every time. The manual is another story, the thing about that is, to drive it, you actually need skill. lol. I can't drive it very well, I can admit it. I like consistency though, that's where the computer comes in at. I know if I was skilled at driving manuals, even then, I'd still slip up and miss a shift here or there, there is no person professional or not who hasn't, the best guys do it, but with an automatic, there is certainty and consistency; you floor the bad boy from a stand still, or from 60 on up, it will shift accurately every time.

So in my personal opinion, I'd say the auto is faster than the manual, for the mere fact that it's ran by the computer which is always consistent, and with manuals your prone to human error. Night and day difference. Manuals do have less drive-train loss and SHOULD be putting out more power at the rear wheels but an auto can easily do the same thing with a tune. I believe it's really how the cars broken in which determines it's power thereafter.

Enjoy your car though,.......and traffic.

Oh wait,.....didn't ex-Ferrari F1 driver Mika Salo get his new Camaro as an auto? Yup. Interesting.
