If you wanted to make a '10 Camaro a dedicated drag car, sure that long block would be a good starting point.

A Magnacharger stuck on an LS3 is more for big power on something you still want daily driving manners with. And emissions compliant...

Plus you have the added weight of an iron block. Why put an iron block in a street '10 Camaro. Someone with a lighter stroker aluminum motor will probably clean your clock with less power.

I think it's going to be all about the valve covers at car shows. Open the hood of a 69 Pro Touring Camaro, and listen to people say - Wow an LSX454. Stick it in a '10 Camaro, and you now have a very expensive drag and show car. Forget about daily driving it to work any more. And be prepared for about a 10 to 1 ratio of working on it vs driving it.
Actually on the GM performance page they dont suggest those applications it says "possible applications" besides that cam isnt a really sick huge super aggressive cam for that displacement is it ? I forgot some of the not so huge amount of cam info I use to know.

how about $5350 for a LSX376 long block with a magnacharger. It's a boost friendly 9.0:1 comp ratio. then again that ups the cost but could be huge hp numbers.

I put an LSX 438 ci twin turbo in my 2004 Denali and put down 805 ft lbs torqe to all four wheel on a break in tune.
Google 438 twin turbos and it should come up. Or go to TRUCKIN's website and google 438 twin turbo's for the article.

I've been hinting at this in my repeated engine swap threads.

pulling the motor is a lot more work than having that nice whistle from the supercharger installed on the 6.2

For the extra power, you will probably have to also do some other drivetrain work, including a new rear differential and new axles and maybe even upgrading the transmission. If you have to replace or upgrade all of these parts anyway, this build even works for V6 drivers.

Thanks

Why would you want to throw more weight on the front on an already heavy car? Its a great block for an all out drag car but would suck as a DD or something that drives in other than straight lines.

You also need to consider that, this is for race application and not daily drive. Secondly, you have to go with stand-alone PCM which opens up new challenges. It sounds good, but not an 8 hour installation you do with S/C and the car still drives normal. But if you builing a race car, I'll put a TT on it and make a 1000 HP race car all say long!

My buddy has this in his GTO with a 300 shot. It's wicked as hell but the install and hoops that had to be jumped through were pure hell. You'd honestly be better off forging the ls3/l99 and throwing boost at it.

I will take my 26 mpg and more power under the curve any day of the week. Why in the WOLD would someone swap a motor, in essence destroy the drive-ability and reliability?

"WOLD"? I wonder too. There's no comparison re n/a vs blown. If you argue that, you'll argrue with a post. The post can't win but some will bet heavy on the post

We have had this same conversation here, and we will be doing this swap in a few months. We just can't seem to keep Camaros in stock right now or it would be in the works already. :(:( The LSX454 is $9400.00 and with the 236/246 cam is am planning on some great driveability. Once we begin I will post up the whole build.
