Volt Lab Testing

Posting cuz 1) it's interesting, 2) your Camaros and all GM products go through the same test, and 3) it's my brother in law.

Pretty cool if you haven't seen this type of test before.

Is the car running for that type of test? How would something like the CTS-V with the active suspension be done?

Same test. The MR shocks would be active. This test is broken down to just the parts that can damage the structure of the car. But as this is a 17 channel test that includes braking and additional loads a 4 post test can't do.

This is a pretty severe test for the body and chassis.

That's awesome.

But, if they just do it for 100 000 miles /160 000 kms, they should double that. (I know, i heard the part about the car lasting three times this.) Just to up the durability.

Keep in mind when you here 100,000 miles this 100,000 miles for a VERY severe customer. It is way more abuse than you or I will do.

Also 100,000 miles does not mean that is how long the vehicle is expected to last in the hands of that verysevere customer, it is the point where we judge reliability. GM expects your car will likely last well beyond 100,000 miles.

For example the only way to put the number of doors slams that GM does is if you ran a Camaro UPS delivery service. LOL

"Each 'life' is 100,000 miles and this car will run 3 lives". So they actually triple that .
