all douchebaggery aside, they one thing that has ever pissed me off, mustang, import, or camaro owner, even GTO owner, is when someone thinks his car is better than anyone else, and then uses some exaggerated bullcrap to bash the other car in order to support his claim. when i meet people in person, or on the street, i'm very cordial until someone pulls this kind of crap, the same garbage pulled in this thread. that's when i turn on the switch and feed it back into their face. and yes, i know i pissed you off, otherwise you wouldn't have taken the time to reply.

it's unfortunate you don't give the car enough credit, because evidently you don't know much about it. if it wasn't for the VZ commodore/monaro, and subsequently the VE platform that followed it, your car wouldn't exist. you're car is faster because of an LS3 and a better suspension setup, something a GTO owner can easily upgrade his engine to match with a set of heads and a cam, and some suspension tweaks? so it's a horrible failure of a car because of that? please.

lastly, there is a descent chance i may run into you, since i only live about 35 miles outside chicago... now i'll make it a point to introduce myself to every black SS camaro owner i see while i'm out there, which i am on a somewhat regular basis. hope i catch you.

to everyone else - like i've said a couple times in this thread, and perhaps i should expound on it: I LIKE THE CAMARO. great car. there is no arguing that off the showroom floor, against a stock GTO the camaro excels against it in every performance catagory. looks and interior are subjective to taste. (i like the new mustang a bit more, so you can hate on me for that). I wouldn't trade up, though, but that's just personal preference and nothing against the car itself.

The Lumina SS wouldve been Better!! (for those that dont know shit, thats the UK version of the Monaro\GTO)

I just traded my 06 a4 gto for my ls3 2ss/rs for performance wise i say they are equal.But looks wise Camaro hands down.

Umm, no, this is the Middle Eastern version of GTO/Monaro.
The Monaro was sold in the United Kingdom as the Vauxhall Monaro

Really doesn't ... that's my 2003 Grand Am along side. It looks as close to the G8 as the GTO. But just like my others ... 2001 Grand Am, 2007 Grand Prix and 2009 G6 ... they all look like Pontiacs.

Maybe not, but it would be closer then you think. The 20 inch rims alone give back some of the Camaros advantage by changing the gear ratio and the auto will always have an advantage on the track. Weight is another advantage for the GTO.

...what I'd like to see is one of the LS3 GTOs going stock for stock against the Camaro. Same engine is about as apples to apples as it would get.

I look in the mirror every time I brush my hair. I too am very nice an cordial to people at car shows and tend to get a long with a lot of people. I hang with a lot of f-bodies, GTO and mustang guys. But as you said it's the people that are assholes about their cars that set me off. Much like you who decides to come over and start a forum war because you don't like what some one has to say about your car on their forum. Right there is about where I lost respect, we're not at a cruise in hanging out. We're on a vehicle specific forum that, based on your 5 posts, you signed up just for this thread. Also I'm kind of confused because it seems like your agreeing that GTO guys are d-bags. You make yourself a hell of a case.

This kind of shows your misunderstanding. The Camaro, though based of basic VZ architecchure, was developed as a global platform. Much like the CTS' platform was based on the opel design. That being said it is a revolution more so than a evolution. As I have stated in numerous threads, the Zeta platform has fixed all of the VZ downfalls. As for modding a GTO to be better than a stock Camaro? That's obvious, anything can be modded to perform better than another. The point you miss is that this thread was created to compare each car stock vs. stock. You and your buddies want to flash around how your car is faster than mine, well that's probably true. You all have much more mods than me. Go find a GTO with an intake and tune then talk to me. A GTO owner can mod his engine and chassis and beat a Camaro, no shit Sherlock. But the Camaro owner can do less mods and stay ahead.

I'm hard to miss, my vanity plate says DarkSS. I only have a rear plate so I'm sure you'll see it. Depending on how late in the summer you find me of course.

I think that we can all agree that stock for stock the GTO's(05 and 06 with LS2's) and the SS's are very close in performance.

Wouldn't an LS3 GTO negate the whole stock portion?

That all depends on how what your opinion on close is. If you consider half a second, then sure they're close.
