#09-01-37-001A: Gurgle or Rattle Type Noise Coming from Instrument Panel (IP)/Heater Core/Transmission Area (Perform Repair As Outlined) - (Feb 8, 2010)

Subject:Gurgle or Rattle Type Noise Coming from Instrument Panel (IP)/Heater Core/Transmission Area (Perform Repair as Outlined)

Models:2010 Chevrolet Camaro
Equipped with V8 Engine (RPOs LS3, L99)

This bulletin is being revised to update the condition statement. Please discard Corporate Bulletin 09-01-37-001 (Section 01 - HVAC).
<A href="#ss1-2395072">Condition

Some customers may comment on a gurgle or rattle type noise coming from the instrument panel (IP), heater core or transmission area.
<A href="#ss2-2395072">Cause

Coolant flow within the heater core may be causing this noise.
<A href="#ss3-2395072">Correction

Install a one-way flow valve, GM P/N 10188036, into the inlet heater hose using the following procedure.
  1. Drain the coolant. Refer to the Cooling System Draining and Filling procedure in SI.
  2. Remove the engine cover.
  3. Reposition the heater inlet and outlet front hose assembly clamps using J 38185 pliers.
  4. Disconnect the heater inlet and outlet front hose assembly quick connect fittings.
  5. Remove the heater inlet and outlet front hose assembly.

  6. Cut the rubber sleeve that wraps around the inlet and outlet heater hose assembly.

  7. Centrally locate the valve in straight section of the inlet heater hose and mark the hose section to be removed.
  8. Cut out the marked hose section and slide the two clamps, GM P/N 01470030, onto the hose ends.
  9. Orientate the valve with the arrow stamped on the valve pointing upward towards the quick connect fitting end and install the valve. Secure using the clamps. Position the clamps so the housing and strap DO NOT contact the other hose.Tighten
Tighten the clamps to 3 N·m (26 lb in).
  10. Secure the valve to the outlet hose using two plastic tie straps, GM P/N 12337820 or equivalent. DO NOT overtighten the tie straps. Crushing the heater outlet hose will restrict coolant flow.

  11. Install the heater inlet and outlet front hose assembly. Connect the quick connect fittings and position the clamps away from the engine harness using J 38185 pliers.
  12. Refill the coolant. Refer to the Cooling System Draining and Filling procedure in SI.
  13. Install the engine cover.

Open the hood. On the [U]car's[U] right (your left as you face the car) look down past the fuse box and find a white sticker applied to the frame. That sticker is stamped with the date and time down to the second. I assume that's when the frame started down the assembly line.

This has kind of turned into a v-6 belt thread but I figured I would update it anyway.

They have narrowed the noise to the power steering pump. It is making a hissing sound after the belt change. The service manager wanted to check the owners Camaro (L99) to see if it has any similiar sound to it. I can't imagine it does but they also wanted to research it through an engineer and check to see if there are any other similiar problems being addressed. I will update when I know something else.

I didnt really narrow it down to passanger side. All I know is when it was happening I had the car for a week and I had to be like WtF.

it stops when you are using the vent and not defrost. I guess its the Accessory belt and if your climate control is set on defrost of you have the a/c on you will get the noise. try running your car w/ out the defrost on or just shut off the climate control.

if that works then it was the same problem I had.
