Question Anyone make black interior parts?

Hi, I've searched for interior trim parts - mostly around the vents, in black, but can only find all the stick on chrome parts. They ain't for me!

Does anyone make parts for all the interior trim in flat or anodized black, or black metallic? I do not want to rip out the radio & dash to get these vent trim pieces off and paint them myself. I already did the Speedo / Tach bezel, and will soon attempt the steering wheel silver trim - as soon as I get a tool to get the air bag off.

Thanks!
Michael J.

You really have to take off the dash to get to the center vent trim?! I thought I read that somewhere else but I didn't think they were for real.

I agree. I am planning on painting all of my silver trim yellow. I was just going to buy another center vent trim from the GM parts dept and have it painted. I'm sure that they are not that expensive. I also want to do the steering wheel trim bezel. Would a body shop take the air bag off?

Yes, you have to remove the radio and other parts, and if you don't want to remove the dash, you have to cut the last bolt! It's not painting the parts for me, it's getting them off to paint them - or replacing them with newly painted parts. For now, I'm leaning on buying the chrome stick on, painting and installing them. Although, I don't like the idea of sticking parts on top of the parts ;(

I've heard the dealer will remove the air bag, for a fee

I totally agree with you. Damn didn't know that little stupid center piece was going to be that much trouble! What bolt were you talking about that they would have to cut? Yeah that would suck having to paint the stick on to put on.

Do you think the dealer could remove the vent trim easier?

I wonder what the dealer would charge for the airbag removal?

That's all I know about the trim removal.

Call the dealer about the air bag. I just ordered the steering wheel trim, will strip & paint it, then call the dealer...so it's ready to be replaced at the same time.

Thanks,
Michael J.
