Arrow More Power for 2011 Mustang, will Camaro respond?

I just saw on autoblog that the 2011 mustang is allegedly getting 412 horse power.

http://www.autoblog.com/2009/12/17/2...power-5-0l-v8/

Without knowing final weight, it will probably be pretty close to the camaro speed numbers.

The mustang has a good package going on now with the added power, improved interior materials, sync and new exterior.

What would the camaro do next? I cannot wait to find out how GM responds. What do you guys think GM should do? Nothing, the new features (cooled seats, hud, backup sensonrs, etc) are enough, GM needs to upgrade the interior and offer sat nav or something better?

Competition is great and hopefully will make a better camaro for all of us!! I am excited to see how things shape up for the future.

The new Mustang GT for 2011 is upping their horsepower but also cutting weight to get to a 23 mpg rating so they can get clear of the gas guzzler tax. Don't expect
brembo brakes or discs or several other goodies the SS already has. I don't think Chevy needs to do anything drastic for the Camaro. It appears that Ford is trying to catch up. The Camaro is setting the pace right now. We want a quality product but we need to be able to afford it. The convertible and Z28 will both fetch a fair sum to own. I can buy a new Corvette for $41k. Now I know that is not everyone's cup of tea and you may prefer your muscle car. Just sayin.

If THAT's what they're counting on - a super low volume $50k vehicle - to keep SS vs GT in Camaro's favor, then they're very poor planners. I couldn't care less that GT500 is faster than SS; that's not the comparison for my shopping. It's SS vs GT or Z/28 vs. GT500.

Aren't Brembos already available on GT w/track pack?

I bet that new 5.0L DI v8 gets better than 23 highway. If not, that's stupid on Ford's part. They put a 6 spd in it; why not put a big overdrive in 6th?

the new 5.0 is not DI, doesn't need it. And it is expected to get over 25 mpg's.

But is is a modern 4-valve twin cam with a (hopefully) bullet-proof bottom end, and will be in front of (finally for the GT) a decent 6 speed gearbox. While it is fairly tough, I'm not a fan of the Tremec 3650, 5 speed box.

so what you are telling me , the Mustang isn't going to have a 4.6 liter engine in the 2011 Mustang?

What is your source? I don't believe it for a minute...
