GMpartdirect.com - Painted Engine Cover question?

I've decided I am going to order the painted engine cover for my Rally Yellow SS. For those of you that have ordered through GM Parts Direct I have a few questions.
1.) I know it is a generic picture, but does the center of the intake come grey like shown on the link below? or is it just black like the stock one?
2.) They call it Scorch Yellow... does it match the Rally Yellow?
3.) Does anyone know if there is still constraints on the painted engine cover. I don't want to order and be waiting for months.

http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/results...umber=92219178

This is what I am looking for...

dont do it

Id hold off from ordering from that site , my friend ordered his engine cover in october from them paid in full and hasnt got it yet . they keep telling him its on back order. For a few dollars more just order it from the dealer , at least if its taking to long you could get your money back faster.

I never thought about doing it that way. I guess considering it is a dealer option I could. By any chance, do you know what the price difference?

[QUOTE=newagemuscle;1506409]I've decided I am going to order the painted engine cover for my Rally Yellow SS. For those of you that have ordered through GM Parts Direct I have a few questions.

I ordered my painted engine cover the 17th of Dec. They emailed me it was on backorder. They do not charge your credit card until it is shipped.
I got an email that my order was filled and shipped about a week ago, and got my order Wednesday. They have a fixed handling charge of $15.95 per order (so order everything at the same time). The cover is identical to the stock cover except that the gray part is painter your color.

Yes the covers are the same color in the middle, and yes they have been on back order. I ordered mine in July when i got my car and got it four months later. I've ordered from GM parts direct before and while they are significantly cheaper than local dealerships their customer service is non existent. If you accidently order the wrong item, or if they like I had happened after multiple emails affirm I had the right item number but when i received it it was the wrong item your out of luck. I ordered mine from a dealership in the North East and they saved me some money of the GMdirect parts about 10 percent shipped. Let me know if you want their info via PM.

People have asked when we charge - WE charge when we ship items. WE charge no restocking fee for returned items. Yes, we might not be the cheapest, but we do things at a higher level of service than website parts departments. And as always, CALL for your parts discount.

Can I order it directly from you? If so, what would the price be? You can send me a PM if need be.

Just take your cover to a good custom paint shop. I had mine done for under a hundred bucks, in IOM w/gold pearl LS3's below Chevrolet to match my stripes.

I'm getting ready to order mine. But I hit up member LittleRockCGM. he has one and loves it. Plus he has several other custom painted pieces for his Z06 from RPIDesigns and really likes them, and yes, they use the OEM cover.

Ask your dealer. Mine told me that they would match an online price for the interior trim package. I assume they would do the same with the engine cover.

Doesn't hurt to ask.
