Economy, Camaro, and You

In light of this new American economy, (or lack there of), is this putting any hesitation on your thoughts of purchasing the new Camaro? Let's face it, no matter the cost, >$20K is a very large financial commitment, whether you're paying cash or financing. Just curious if any of you are becoming hesitant or fearful?

EDIT: Added poll. Votes are private.

More than ever GM needs our support. I'll be placing my deposit down on Monday that is fully refundable just in case something happens at that point in time. However I know I will be able to make payments of up to $500 a month at the very least and $700 a month at the most..

The economy going up or down doesnt affect me at all,my money is not in the stock market or any other investment fund , its just in a plain old regular bank account 100% risk free.

So, you don't work for a company that relies on sales of services or products to other people or businesses?

I feel pretty secure in my job (oil services company) but even our stock has taken a beating in the market. Combine that with a lower price for oil and I'm certain we'll start to see some curtailing of new contracts in the near future. Less revenue leads to less spending and if drastic enough, employee layoffs. I'm just hoping and hedging my bets that it won't come to that so I can enjoy my new Camaro next summer, as originally planned. If not, well, my 215k mile Chevy truck will just have to keep working as a daily driver for a bit longer.

I hope to save as much as possible. I don't like to owe too much on cars. Hopefully the lending crisis will subside six months from now when the car comes out.

Not at all. My money isn't tied up in stocks (I do have Deferred Comp which is similar to a 401K, but not a lot in it yet, so am not worried), just a savings and checking account.

And my line of work is considered 'secure' when it comes to applying for a loan. The Department of Corrections will be there regardless of the economy.
