don't know if this will help, but this is absolutely everything you will need to know about new 5.0 coyote motor from the horses mouth(no pun intended...well maybe).

One of the interesting things is that the motor was built for boost before it even hits the streets, ecoboost injectors are a direct fit, so all in all there WILL be a factory boosted gt in near future

not built for boost.. built ready to convert to direct injection which is better for boost. so ford left the option open..

They already started boosting them.
Shelby GT350 has a Whipple sitting on top making low to mid 500 hp on 5 lbs. boost.

I don't think the GTs had the traction issues because they aren't running nowhere near the weight over the front as the GT500 and it seems like when they first appeared in 05 they were seen as extremely easy to launch. Of course that weight distribution is even improved on the 11 Shelbies. IMHO, there is just too much for the SS to overcome. The GT has lighter weight, better gearing, better available rear end ratios, and I just don't see as being this almost impossible thing to launch (as long as the driver knows HOW to launch and isn't just punching it from the start). IMHO you are going to have .2-.3 difference between the GT and SS there is between the SS and Challenger R/T.

if you read the article, it specifically states the motor was made for boost, b/c they know ppl will boost before a factory boosted car arrives. special oil delivery system to cool pistons to drop engine temps 25 degrees during high rpm....they put alot of r and d into the motor...interesting to see what chevy does next these are good times

I think the 5.0 will be a tick or two faster. I`m sure they wouldn`t go to all the trouble with a new engine to be slower..however the high redline and those heads she should pull good on top. To each there own, the camaro will always be the top dog to me

I'm willing to wait until official comparisons are done but the real battle will be fought with the V6 Camaro and Stang. The Mustangs new V6 is only ahead of the Camaros V6 by the slimmest of margins and it should be interesting to see which V6 is best though the V8 wars are intriquing as well

Sounds like you should be pissed at your local dealers. But if you thought a Mustang GT was "slow" and were scared of being beat by a "4cylinder", that camaro you bought isn't THAT much farther ahead.
You get a lot more power off the LS3 than you ever could with the 4.6. Even with a supercharger in it. I spent around 17k on my 07 mustang GT, to make 638rwhp, running 11psi, heads and cams.

Long tube and tune on a 4.6 GT, you'll be lucky if you get 30rwhp, long tubes and tune on a camaro 50rwhp.

I drove mustangs all my life they've always been underpowered, I had a 98 Gt, 2000 GT, 2004 GT, 2007GT. I had a turbo on the 04 full bolt ons and I was barely making aroud 362rwhp. While the LS1's with heads and cams were breaking 400rwhp.

GM just makes a better product it took me 12yrs to realize that.

My mustang was pretty sweet though, but I would never trade my Camaro back for it.

Now if ford dropped shelby and just make a SVT Cobra again like the termi that would be a whole different story. But the 5.0 will probably be faster than the 2010 SS, not lets see how long GM lets that happen though.

We know ford has always been behind the game the camaro, as fugly as it was in years passed has always been faster.

Yea.. that why I said it was a bad ass motor,.. all freshly built.. lastest technology..
compression too high for much boost..
though i wonder what level Hypereutectic alloy piston they used..
Im really curious for this engine to come out and see what it can handle HP wise with its stock internals..

agreed,.. I am a mustang fan along with the new camaro..
but when u look at it mustang GT to Camaro SS (ford people stop bringing in GT500 its $17K more then I wanted to spend) Mustang GT was lighter handled better when option with track package but engine without rebuild is limited to 450wHP safetly. I looked at GM the LS3 is good for 600wHP safetly.. Not hard to make camaro handle better..
as of 2010 GMs Camaro SS is just the better option for someone who wants to go fast in top end..

I believe they are using the regular piston b/c of this piston cooling system, and the gt350 is using a supercharged 5.0 rated at 550bhp, 490lb-ft, and 0-60 in 4.2 not sure if they are using stock compression.

Just found out about lsx 454 package for new camaros from a dealership out of new jersey which will be sick if you have the money w/620hp and 590lb-ft naturally aspirated on another site. If things keep going in 3 years, 450-500hp will be the norm

hot rod magazine LSX 454

This site has a good write up

like how it say that u will void ur warrenty cuz GM didnt test it but if u add a power adder u could ... "it would be quite simple to have a 1,000 horse-engine that starts, idles, and runs with good manners."

Video of the 2010 Camaro LSX 454
