Count your blessings would you rather be pissed off with hundreds of dollars to pay?

That's Louisiana standard procedure. All it takes is watching a few episodes of Cops, or Steven Seagals show to know that. They don't walk up to cars, they call people back to their cars.

I can't stand that they do that, I would much rather keep someone in their car, it contains them, but that's not their way of doing things...they tell everyone to get out of the car.

There is a very good reason to follow someone. I tend to like to know if I'm following a stolen car or a wanted person before I pull them over if I can. I really don't like walking up to the window on a stolen car....tends to lead to fights or people fleeing. Sometimes my computer is slow and it takes some time to get the registration and NCIC back.

Well my cop story is a little different...When the wife and I first got married we had a 1964 Ford Custom that probably should have been shot and buried long before we got it...anyways she was driving along HWY 4 in Contra Costa County and the car died several miles out of town. There she was on the side of the road it was August and pretty hot out and she was 6months pregnant with our 2nd child. This was before cell phones by the way. A CHP motorcycle pulled up to check on her. He was very pleasant and concerned about her being out there by herself so he radioed for a patrol car to come get her off the freeway. When the 2nd officer arrived he gave her some bottled water made sure she was ok and then loader her, our 1st child and all the baby stuff in his car and drover her all the way to my parents house about 30 miles away so I could pick her up after work. Always been greatful for how they treated my family...

Thanks for sharing. I am finally glad to hear a story around here that doesn't involve cop bashing/belittleing.

The general statement around our department is "If I wanted to be liked, I'd have become a firefighter"

To me it's not about like/dislike, it's a thankless job. It's more about the level of professionalism that makes a difference. The two officers who helped my wife were true professionals and I will always be greatful.

Stopping cars like the Camaro is just a natural extension of the bully mentality. They can't afford the Camaro so they have to intimidate/inconvenience others who can afford it because of their intense jealousy and sense of entitlement. This is especially so for YOUNG drivers because it reminds them of the only time in their life when they felt any relevance to society: in school. Seeing young people drive what they cannot have reminds them of the potency that they used to have but no longer have in the real adult world.

Just my 2c.

This is just brilliant.....

How many people that post here are law enforcement offcers with Camaros? FAIL.

To the OP: Would you rather have a handful of tickets for your trouble? You got warned, man up and fix the issues with your car. Or don't and roll the dice that you may get cited for them. Simple.

You don't know this...your assuming after hearing only ONE-side of the story. There are so many reasons you can be taken out of your car.
It gets frustrating reading these boards lately, wasn't this way when I first joined(then again Camaros weren't even being produced yet) about having to hear how "bad" the police are.
All I can say is...next time your in DC shoot me a PM and your more than welcome to come on a ride-along anytime...I think it would change so many people's attitudes on these boards.

I'm with you 100%. As much as I don't like having strangers ride with me (Moving the printer etc is annoying ) I'm still an advocate of making people come out with us. I think every kid should have to see what cops really do before they get their license, it would open a lot of eyes.

For those who are curious, check and see if your local department has a citizens academy. We do one 2-3 times a year. I think you'd enjoy it, and you'd find out why we do a lot of the things we do.

Much like the rest of society, there are always those who spoil it for the rest.

I think a very high percentage of Law Officers, do a wonderful job. It's the one's that don't who give the good guys a bad name.

I have seen both sides of this. So my Hat's off to the Police Officers who are doing their work the way it should be done.

To the others (who I believe are in a very small minority). There are role models in the business that should be examples for you to emulate.
