IT wouldn't shock me either way. But with the 5.0 GT weighing in at under 3600 lbs with 412 HP (versus) the SS 6-Spd weighing in at just under 3900 lbs with 426 HP, I'm gonig to have to say that magazines will probably get the 5.0 GT to clock in better acceleration numbers. Not by much but there is not enough extra horses in the SS to make up the weight in my opinion but I could be wrong. The 5.0 GT also should have a 3.73 rear which helps it altoguh the '11 Camaro was rumored on an older thread here to be getting one too, don't know if it's true. But handling as long as the 5.0 GT has the Track Pack it will be better than a SS for now!
what happen about the info that was put out

though they still probably have 5.0 GT go faster.. shorter gears the mustang will have

I wish camaro would of had a track pack

God I would of been so pissed if I bought that 2010 mustang GT I was lookin at. it was $30K and then this comes out with 412HP and same price..

I feel bad for 2010 Mustang GT owners
if mustang doesnt gain a good amount of weight the Mustang V6 will only be a hair slower then the 2010 Mustang GT

Yes. I bought a 2010 2SS/RS and sold it last year not enough pickup to my liking. I'm used to a Vette. But I looked at the GT500 last year and siad to myself wait if the Mustang GT is due for a change and the V6 the GT500 has to have something up their sleeves. The dealer told me none of the models were getting any updates. I told him he was lying that I kno for sure the GT and V6 are getting updated, he said it was news to him, and that I would be waiting for the 2011 GT500 and purchasing it somewhere else!

Well specs rolled around: 2011 GT500

- 10 HP increase (540 to 550)

- 102lbs - 132 lbs less in curb weight due to all new Aluminum Engine (depending on if you order the glass roof)

- SVT Performance Package available (knocks off 3-4 seconds at the track)

-etc...

So I can only imagine how a 2010 Mustang V6 or GT owner must feel. Every company has done this at some time this happened to me with my Vette when they went from 6.0L to 6.2L 4 years ago.

2011 Mustang Sales Off To A Great Start!

http://www.autoblog.com/2010/02/26/2...-a-good-start/

Just throwing this out there to all the Camaro5 members who thought the new motors weren't going to bring in significant new sales numbers. I wasn't lying when I said a lot of people were waiting for the new motors to go along with the cosmetic changes of 2010.

The 2011 Mustang will outsell the 2011 Camaro. Then when Chevy makes the next big change the roles will reverse. It's great for fans of both cars!

11,000 pre-orders is really nice, well done Ford.

I suspect the prediction that for 2011 the Mustang may outsell the Camaro could be accurate.

I was just talking about this on the other thread about the 2011 GT500. It is possible the Mustang could outsell the Camaro especially if it is cheaper in these tough economic times. But like I said before I wouldn't be shocked either way. And if it is Mustang now it will Camaros turn again later on when they first fresh this model up or when the 6th gen comes out! I truly believe a Z28 would boost sales for the whole lineup because a new Z28 would spark an interest in the whole lineup again as soon as this "New" Camaro shine wears off!

I'm a Camaro fan, well really a Trans Am fan, but I'm never getting that back. But I've always thought regardless of the new engine in the 2011 Mustangs that Mustang sales would eventually surpass the Camaro.

OK - LET'S TRY THIS AGAIN.

Keep this thread on the '11 GT500 or I'll just shut it down. We have enough Mustang threads on a CAMARO forum and I only let this one slide because it's a new model, with significant changes. This isn't a comparison with the Challenger so limit comments. THIS IS A 5TH GENERATION CAMARO FORUM and I'm tired of reading the bickering. Stay on topic or I'll delete the whole d@mn thing. This thread, seemed to me, to be going places. Don't think for a moment I'm going to let a Challenger thread open next to continue to bickering. Infractions are going to be issued it this persists.

Respectfully...
Chuck

So they aren't going to off an A6 for the Shelby? That seems to be a shame too.
