Seat trim: leather-appointed FRONT seats???

"Seat trim: leather-appointed front seats"

Does this mean that the back seats will still be cloth on the 2SS?

Yes I searched....

No...as in most GM .....leather on the front seating surface.....vinyl everywhere else. I hope leather is also on the rear surface.

Believe it or not -- but the Mustang Leather interior - for years -- put leather seating surfaces in the front seat -- but the back seats are all vinyl - and unless something changed with the new Mustang - I think it's still that way.

The reason I know? We were given a mandate to do the same thing in, I believe 1999 -- and we fought it because we felt it would mislead consumers.

I will check next week -- but I believe we've done the same thing in order to try and keep costs down............

I'm not too concerned with what my back seats are covered in since no one but me is driving/riding in my 5th gen.

Uhh Well That Would Defeat the purpose of me wanting LEATHER....WHY Would ANYONE, Opt for LEATHER and ONLY get the FRONT SEATS IN LEATHER?? AND THE REAR SEATS IN SOMETHIN OTHER THAN LEATHER??

As Fbodfather said.. THAT WOULD BE MISLEADING!!!!. WHO Other Than A ENTHUSIAST would catch the fine Print On That.. When I first saw that i just thought it was a MISPRINT.. BUT now I'm NOt SO SURE..Keeping Cost Down is one thing but to out-and-out MISLEAD a possible Buyer With Word play is IMHO VERY DECIETFUL. AND DISHONEST.

Ya KNow I Have NOt Had Anything Negative To say About This car..I Love It, A few things i dont care for but cant please EVERYONE ALL THE TIME.. But THIS?? I Dunno Just seems WRONG.. Kinda Like The Old Bait And Switch..

~~~Leather You say? You want leather? Ok, Thats Another 1200.
~~~Just to get your car and realize Its Only HALF LEATHER INTERIOR, THE FRONT HALF..

I kind of understand this train of thought..... not that I agree with it (don't really matter to me either way because I'm getting the SS1), but I understand it.

If you were shopping for a $50k car and up, it is a forgone conclusion that all the seating TRIM (not just surfaces) are leather. But we must remember, real leather is not a cheap thing to produce (just go look at the price tage of a real, soft, leather coat in a leather shop).

Now, GM could charge us $1200 for the leather/lighting package and give us the leather seating surfaces on front seats only, and cover all the other seat trim in front and back in vinyl.....

Or, they could give us full leather, front and back, surfaces and trim, and charge us another $3-4k for the package.

My 95 Tahoe has FULL Front/Rear LEATHER SEATS..

Hmm, Besides I DID Want Leather. But, Now If I Chose To Get LEATHER i will just have my local REstoration Shop reupolster(sp?) the seats for About $400-800 FRONT/REAR.. Cheaper Than The GM Option..

But Before we Go Off The deep end..
Maybe we should wait and see what Scott Finds out and says..

The last year for "leather seating surfaces" in Mustang was 1996. For 1997 the option was renamed "leather front seating surfaces" and the back seats were changed completely to vinyl. It was one of several cost reductions done for the 1997 Mustang Cobra, including eliminating the strut tower brace, eliminating the underhood courtesy light, eliminating the separate clock atop the dash (integrating it into the stereo), and changing to thinner carpeting.

You are very right on this one. I saw the ordering package and it seemed VERY odd; but the reason why its tolerable to me is simple. I drive a 2005 GTO Leather front and back. The car is "simiar" to the Camaro as far as engine, options, power......etc. In two years i've maybe had people in the back 3 times.

Anyway if the seats look the same as the front and keep the price down I can live with it. I'll be really happy if the Camaro is priced comparable to the GTO.

Now if the seats were cloth in the back.....not cool.
