As a daily driver back and forth to work the Camaro is great. For longer trips the Charger has the size and the 5.7 has the power and gas saving. The SRT8 is just a monster and my wife doesn't like driving it.

So as always it depends on how youre planning to use the car.
That camaro looks a little out of place lol

The Challenger R/T has been tested by pretty much every Magazine out there and it times are consistantly in the very high 13s - low 14s.

The challenger R/T got beat by the Mustang GT and the Pontiac G8 GT in head to head testing.
Challenger R/T (14.1 @ 102 mph) - Motortrend
Challenger R/T (14.1 @ 101 mph) - Road and Track

Camaro SS (13.0 @ 110 mph) - Motortrend
Camaro SS (12.9 @ 110 mph) - Road and Track.

No matter how you look at it, the Challenger R/T is a high 13-low 14 sec car.

You are looking at PRE 09 Charger times, Motortrend and Car and Driver BOTH got 13.5@105-106 from Challenger R/Ts. it is easily a mid 13 second car with a decent driver.

Raced two of those cars, it was humiliating for them. A pair of the owners came to check out my Camaro in the staging lanes after getting whipped, and asked what i'd done to the car.
Sounds about right. I've never seen a Challenger R/T run low 13's stock. The best I've seen one do was a 13.8.

I've ran two Challenger's so far. And R/T and an SRT. Both of them were not happy with the outcome, and I drive a Mustang.

Wish they still had the vids up, also when that happened there was a group of GTO owners there and the 300C SRT8 was indeed bone stock. Now, the 05s if I am not mistaken, may be a bit lighter than newer models, also the RWHP a lot of the SRTs put down on the dyno leads to more like 450 stock, at least on earlier models. It may be hard to believe it did happen and fortunatly in front of a few GM hardcores......

Ya know honestly, as long as you go to a website featuring just one car, that is alsways going to be the best, and fastest and creams the other 2. Good luck getting an unbiased opinion and no bashing of the cars that site doesn't cover (be it Camaro, Mustang, or Challenger).

I went through the same thing as the OP before I got my 1SS. Challengers are apparently starting to sit on dealer lots because of the competition from the Camaro and the upcoming 2011 Mustang.

Problem is that even if you finagle a GREAT deal on a decently optioned R/T, you're still more or less paying what you would've paid for a 2SS. One thing I do like about Dodge is that they are offering heritage colors like Plum Crazy Purple, B5 Blue and Detonator Yellow...

So why hasnt the challenger srt-8 even broke past a 12.8 yet?

The 300c srt-8 is 4200 lbs. Slightly heavier than the challenger.

Was the motor sprinkled with pixie dust after production or what?

The car had a tune or some unknown mod. No way in hell.

Factory freak in perfect conditions, much as the 12.6 Camaro at -1000ft DA IMHO.

Factory freaks are a myth. SAE cerification these days puts and end to that.

A 12.6 with 426 hp and 3800lbs is no freak compared another car running a 12.5 with 400 lbs extra, no power advantage and an automatic transmission!!

And that 12.6 has been repeated 3 times now by the camaro if you havent noticed. One was 800ft DA.

This is something I would have to see in person and see the stock tune confirmed etc etc. to ever believe.
