There's a camaro 5 member that comes to the

Darrin Morgan and the gm recommended method.
Playing devils advocate here...If not done this way the manual specifically states GM can void your warranty.

How would GM know what you did in your car months prior? i'm pretty sure there's no way they can tell. If you read the Darrin Morgan article, it states the rings seal better, so it burns less oil, gets better mpg and it maintains better compression, which means more hp. In the eyes of a GM mechanic, this would be the picture of a very well performing engine. Pretty sure they wouldn't have any trouble with it.

The ECM records every parameter allowing techs to access items months even years old. A flash wipes out the volatile memory, but some say this ECM has a flash counter. Fortunately for us GM is not accessing that area yet to my knowledge. Trust me, they would not put something in the manual they could not monitor. Heck, even onstar monitors your car

the ecm does not have a "hard drive",, the only data it will store is freeze frame data when a trouble code sets,, no codes stored , no data stored

My understanding is lets say you wack the rev limiter, somehow that is stored in the same manner as lets say a tune. If I'm wrong even better.

Who knows what the GM engineers store in the dark depths of the EEPROM chip in the ECM. Or any other of the 15 or so modules on the network in the vehicle. I'm done jacking this thread

GM has to be pretty understanding that these cars are gonna be driven hard, because they put launch control in it. What else is launch control for? Cruising? NO! Drive it hard like it was meant to be.
