Well said. It always boggles my mind why people think that a intake with a tune is the way to go. Its totally backwards thinking IMHO.

You may want to do some research on that. You are flat out backwards in that thinking, and if a vendor tells you that it's because they want to sell you a tune for the lack of R&D that went into the product.

CAI that required a tune is a Home Depot special at best

Then you chose to pay $500 for Hennessey written across the tube?

Apparently you don't research very well or you would have found that a GOOD intake will net you 10-20whp and the same tq. I'm not saying the Hennessey isn't a decent CAI but I don't understand how someone could have paid that much and expected ZERO gain.

If you agreed with everything 2003chevy said, you get a MAJOR -10000, as you just said YOUR intake is no better than the OEM box.

But, but, but... The big expensive flyers that HPE sent out with the Hot Rod Magazine cover said they were the bestest one... so they must be right?

Dont let fancy advertising make your choice. You do have better and cheaper options.

I will not get into an internet battle but would advise you that I am never said you needed a custom tune. A custom tune will definitely allow the consumer to have the most power from his/her modifications. What I am saying and believe 2003chevy was saying is that it is absolutely pointless to add an intake to your vehicle and do a dyno pull! As an engine tuner myself, I can assure you that you will see very little to no gain by doing this. You have to let the adaptives adjust to the new flow characteristics as they are completely changed with our intake as well as others on the market. Any member on this forum who has ordered an HPE Intake from me personally will tell you that I advise them to install the intake and drive the car normally for 50 miles. Do not go WOT until you do so. The purpose of this is to let the car adjust the Long Term Fuel Trims accurately as this is going to affect overall performance of the vehicle. Once the LTFT's settle from adjusting within factory parameters, you will see the results!
Have a great day!
James

I have the Hennesey CAI installed and love it. Yes it made a difference the first time I drove it after installation and WOT sounds fantastic. I bought it in June and alot of the other brands had not become available. The Roto-fab did better in the test slightly but if you order there stainless steel tube like the Hennesey the price is the same. Sure there are better ones, depends what you want. I think the Hennesey is by far one of the best looking. No complaint here.
