I does get better once in has broken in, or I just got used to it. About feeling like you would burn tires, yeah, that's right, my car is stock and I spin them all the time. They spin on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. I don't know what I am going to do once I get my supercharger placed? The horror.

It's a sweet ride

The best thing to do, is to just push the stick up or down. The maro pretty much shifts on it's own.

I am a true blue GM guy hands down. I go fast with a Ford but now drive a DODGE. I looked at both the SS and SRT Challenger. I didn't want a car that every stop light I am waving at the next SS. I also wanted to own a piece of Mercedes Benz which redesigned the Chrysler brand for over 10 years. The E class MB and the Challenger have some of the exact same parts and the same transmission in the automatic (Nag1). The mods for a 6.1 Hemi are available and I talking about hard parts. I installed a SC as soon as I took delivery 200 miles on the speedo. I now have changed the engine to a 426 and can't seem to find a SS around my parts to keep up, I guess once they smell that Torco out the pipes and that Big Bump Stick rockin plus that Twin Screw grinding they kinda back off. I will be at Camaro fest along with some of the slow azz Challengers you guys claim can't run along side a SS. I do come in peace but if any SS cross the line with the Swamp Monster I am prepared to:

Truth be told, I drove the Camaro before I headed over to Dodge. As I stated, I'm 6'4" 300lbs. My head was hitting the roof the entire test drive, even with a very recent hair cut. It was very annoying. That made my decision. I loved the engine & ride. The interior is a little bland for me, but I knew that going in and was happy to deal with it.

Long story short, I ended up purchasing nothing. When the right deal comes around I'm probably going to go with the Challenger. Unless more information is released about the head room in a Vert Camaro (= ~1" more room), I don't see that I can get the Camaro.

I feel like I am an unbiased soul here. I've owned nothing but a Honda or Acura my whole life. I liked both cars. The Challenger just offers MUCH more interior space. Both have classic lines that I love and are enjoyable to drive. Thanks for everyone's input. I've been following the site ever since a Chevy dealer told me about this place back in August. I'll still stick around no matter what car I end up with in the future.

did you adjust the seat? i didn't when i test drove one and my head was about a quarter inch from the roof but i didn't adjust the seat and im 5'9-5'10

I have been wanting to purchase a new Camaro for quite some time. In fact, I finally told myself that I would wait it out for a Vert. Apparently I got bored yesterday and decided to go "window shopping" to compare the nice looking Challenger and Camaro. I told myself it's just for giggles.

So.... I went to one of the local Dodge dealerships just to test drive a Challenger RT 6MT before I went to the Chevy dealer two doors down to do the same with a Camaro 6MT. I wanted something similar to compare to the Camaro since the only RWD car I have driven was a 10 minute G8 GXP test drive.

When I took the RT 6MT out on I-465, all kinds of people were pointing, staring, and waving. The car was a hoot to drive, but it did feel a little soft. (I know there is an alternate suspension kit available for $400 and I am pretty sure I would want it). Also, I didn't feel like the RT had enough "oomph". The G8GXP 6MT I tested last year moved! I have to assume that the Camaro will do the same. The interior of the RT is MUCH larger than the Camaro. I have sat in the Camaro and was surprised at the size difference.

The Dodge dealer then made all kinds of efforts to keep me in the building. Asking what would it take to get me in the car tonight. I felt like I was in a bad movie. Eventually I made a ridiculous offer (thinking they would laugh me out of the building) and they said "ok". I ended up staying 45 minutes after the closing bell talking it out with the dealer and my wife on the phone. Ultimately, I walked because I felt like I was rushing into it, but the dealer is leaving the deal on the table until Monday night.

Monday after work I will go to the Chevy dealer, see if they can come close to the deal I made on the Challenger on a Camaro. I really only want the Aqua Blue (there are a few left in the mid-west) and would consider IBM. I know what the mag's say about the Challenger Vs Camaro Vs Mustang. What I would like to know is if other "real world people" have driven these cars back to back and what those opinions might offer?

Thanks for listening.
I might have missed the post... but did you buy something yet???

Sounds to me that they found someone willing to pay more so they kicked you out of the picture. Don't see any other reason for them to change their minds.

It was going to be a dealer trade. The owner has since emailed me back and the other manager has tried to contact me. We'll see what they have to say tomorrow. I think I am rather screwed at the moment without the 72mo @ 3.9% APR. Who knows.

G8 GXP for the win.

Seriously, consider a lightly used G8 GXP.

Here's my take having driven G8s, Camaros and just having sat in an SRT8 Challenger.

The Camaro gives up alot of interior space (where did it go?), compared to the Challenger, Charger, G8. I find the Camaro very pleasing on the outside, but cramped feeling on the inside.

Performance aside (I think its been covered), it just comes down to think about how you're gonna drive it, I mean a tube chassis 575 BB with a 250 will own the 1/4 mile but will suck driving to work every day.

I have only seen two camaro SS cars in my life in public to this day. I am sure they will be around more this summer compared to last. Then again maybe its just my area.

Buckwheat...Nice to know it took you a motor swap to a 426 and a twin screw supercharger to have the confidence to call us out....you must finally have a fast challenger. Good for you.

If we go back to the published, rag times, whatever, there 1/10-2/10th difference between the 2 stock, hence you just called the Camaro slow too I know though, it's not a Camaro so you think it automatically sucks and I understand that........

He had to put a different motor in it and make it FI in order to beat the Camaros. LMAO

A G8 GXP would be my ultimate happiness. I loved the way it drove/felt/handled. I'm still cursing myself for not getting one over the July 4th weekend (72mo/0% APR). That still keeps me up at night every now and then. Most of the used ones I have found are, what I call "Fisher-Price Red". I despise that color and the asking price has been between $39k and $45k. I have a hard time justifying paying that on a used car that was <$41k in the first place. I'm not after one to put in my garage. I want to drive it.
