installing headers in driveway - which jacks/ramps??

I know this question has been asked before, but I'm wondering if anyone can provide advice for me on this because my car has the factory ground effects and I'm worried about not having enough clearance.

I currently own 2 rhino ramps but not jackstands. Would it be possible to do this job with the rhino ramps? Any specific recommendations for the job?

I have the tools necessary and more or less know my way around down there. (that's what she said)

It would be real tight if your installing long tube's,I think you better get it jacked up at least 2 feet to get enough clearance.Just be carefull with stands that high

Your going to want 4 jackstands. Can't go wrong buying jackstands, you will have uses for them the rest of your life. Some of the ones in my garage are over 30 years old.

Do the stuff on top, while the car is low. Then get it up high on jackstands. Keeping it level is much better, so 4.

Then, what I do when working on tall jackstands is put the ramps back under the front tires just in case. I also leave the floor jack under the crossmember with just a hair of weight on it. The weight will be on the jackstands but you've got the jack under there and the ramps, just in case.

I go way over board on safety when under my cars in the driveway, but haven't squished myself yet. And I can work by myself at my own pace without worry.

You shouldn't have any problems clearing the ground effects. We just did mine today but we were up on a rack with it. Plenty of clearance the longest part was adjusting the exhaust tips to center in the openings. We played with that for over an hour but it was worth it.

I got some 2 x 12s and screwed them to the bottom of my rhino ramps. Some guys are using 2 x 10s staggered for oil changes. Just modified that idea a bit. Drove up on those and then used Jack stands for the rear. Plenty of room then. Just use a small step ladder to work underhood. Worked for me by myself.

ditto on the tip adjustments to get it nice.

and the stupid dipstick tube was hard to see where it went back since its so tight near the starter and heatshield.

def want enough room to maneuver under the car without a problem. good luck.

Mine was up on ramps, so the tire was maybe 1 foot off the ground, I did it myself, used tie wraps to hold the headers in place while I got out from underneath the car to bolt them up, took me about 3.5 hours

I changed mine out with long tubes in my garage, each wheel 4 inches off the ground was plenty. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=58363

I put on the Dynatech longtubes a couple weeks ago. Warning my way isn't the safest.

First unbolt the flanges on the cats then un bolt headers leaving a bolt in each side to hold while ya get ready to drop. Then me and my buddy got two regular jackstands, used a floor jack and lifted front of car to max height of jackstands. We were able to remove the stock headers at that height.

On installing headers, we first loosely hung cats on new headers so they could swivel. Then had to raise jack above max limit of stands probally another 6 inches. moved headers from bottom of car up, i pushed up while buddy was up top guiding the header. I must say it went back up pretty easy. Next i moved cats into stock exhaust flanges. friend then put gasket on and started two bolts, repeated on next side. Lowered car once we and all tools were clear and tightened it all up.

Took about two hours total and most of that time was trying to remember where we set tools.
