These cars have a very low stall (1500 RPM) torque converter with a lockup clutch system. Dyno converter spike should be little if any.
The dyno pull method I would use is:
Do Tap mode and throttle as necessary to get into 4th gear (that gear is the closest to 1:1).
Reduce throttle to get to minimum pull RPM desired.
Then quickly go WOT.
Wow. Thank you for answering my question. That makes a lot of sense.

[QUOTE=PQ;1530169]Nope.

I doubt it. That's only a few weeks after mine was built.

So I guess no one knows for sure? What would I ask the dealer to look for to see if there is an update?

I took mine down to the dealer and told them about this low/high octain fuel table problem. The first told me that my point was illogical. Later they told me there was a bulliten from GM informing dealers about this issue. Then they said they ran a diagnostic scan to see if there were any new updates. They told me that GM already fixed the problem at the factory for cars built after a certain date.

The dealer didn't tell me when that date was but he did tell me that my car was pretty close to the bubble (mine was built 1/10--very recently) so they decided to check for updates and my car had all the updates.

I later ran a dyno and my numbers told me that my car had the fix at the factory.

Good luck.

It still amazes me that there is no better info from our dealers.

I picked up my car finally from the dealer yesterday... It had 4 miles on it. But can you believe the dealer put a full tank of 87 in my SS? I was pissed! So my question is since my car was built on the 16th of February, I shouldn't have to do the fuse pull correct? I think that someone said the problem has been fixed?!? I was thinking maybe just use up the tank that's in my car, then fill up with 93?

Do this. Run this tank down as low as you can. Fill up run a tank of 91 or 93 as low as you can. Fill up again. Then do fuse pull overnight.

Report back.

Well? It's been like 6 hours. You burned that tank out yet?

I read through a few pages of this thread and did not see this answered so i will ask and if it was answered earlier then I apoligize. I have a Superchips, limited edition(orange) programmer. I have set the car up with the 93 octane settings. I have only had the car about 6 weeks. Not sure off hand of manufacture date. Since I programmed the car....is the 2 fuse pull necassary?

I guess I'm not understanding something here. I thought the problem wasn't the maps but the computers ability to switch from the low octane map to the higher octane map. The tune only replaces the stock maps with new tables. This doesn't solve the issue of switching between maps though. Correct?

Is this effective in the LT's as well? I've only read of SS users doing this but nothing so far about the V6's donig the fuse pull. Thanks!
