Sorry to here you are going with K&N filters. Their product is sub-par in the filtering department. :(

I thought everyone had heard this. :(

Do a google search. Many......MANY independent tests on flow and filtering capability and K&N is quite bad in the filtering department. Don't want dirt/sand/dust down my cylinders.

Halltech's design doesn't change the filter medium.

I imagine if you took the filter off and rolled it in sand you might have a problem.

I have ridden motocross and off-road in the sand, dirt, mud, you name it for 25 years. Always used K&N and never had an issue with intake contamination from foreign particles. Now take into consideration that these are used in on-road environments and yeah....

Time to stop the BS train.

No BS. Do the research and decide for yourself. I did.

Nothing against Halltech(cept them going with K&N), the intake seems wonderful.

Halltech Rocks

Ok guys after 3 months of the car stored for the winter time I pulled it out Saturday morning and turned wrenches. After driving it for a couple hours the first thing on my agenda was the Halltech Intake. The install went super fast and the fit is clean. I put about 100 miles on the car that afternoon with no issues. A fresh tank of fuel and started to play a little. The throttle response is super crisp, the air temp was in the low 50's and under hard acceleration the tires easily broke loose in first gear, with little effort to catch second and third. This intake made a world of difference to throttle response. As far as power it hasn't been dynoed but the ass dyno can feel a significant difference. The sound of the engine is freed up to breath. Jim you guys certainly did your homework here, this is a significant gain in performance. I have a couple questions for you I will pm you later today.

Hmmm....I am also concerned a little about the K&N filter. Altough I don't have any kind of proof....I've heard through word of mouth that the K&N filters don't flow nearly as good as other filters that are available now.

I'm pretty much ready to pull the trigger on a CAI and Halltech has been #1 on my list here recently but now I might give it just little time to see if there are any tweaks that are done to it and maybe find out a little more info about the affect of switching to the K&N filter.

Would be nice to see some dyno numbers on how the K&N might have affected the HP produced by the Halltech.

Can anyone with a little knowledge about the different filters give us some heads up?

From what i've heard, it's not a flow issue. I haven't seen anything concrete but what i've read in individual posts is that it's a filtering issue. I was under the impression they used the S&B filter, unless they recently changed.
