All the Aztek needed was new front facia and the plastic crap painted. The problem is, once the original model came out and was ridiculed so much nothing was gonna change people's opinion.

The hunchback profile doesn't help either

They did paint the cladding body colored after the first model year.

That profile, along with the front fascia are 2 of the reasons I liked the Aztek. It was different from anything else on the road. My kids called it a rhinocerous and a spaceship. LOL

When the Aztek was in CTF, I begged one for our trip to Florida. It really was a nice driving mobile. It had a pretty decent interior and was very roomy.

But alas, of all the GM cars I've managed to get my hands on for trips and what not, the family that passed us on I-75 with the kid in back seat pointing at the Aztek and laughing is almost.....................ALMOST as memorable as the reactions to Number 3 driving to California in December 2008.

BTW, the original year with the grey cladding was somewhat based on some earlier competitors. It just didn't translate well in the Aztek. I heard some referred to a tennis shoe as the inspiration for that original look.

I guess with all the room in it I always thought it might pick up a cult following............................apparently not.

I'd like to recant. The Aztek not the ugliest SUV(?) in history.

Seen my first Kia Soul today. It looks like a Mini Cooper with a Thyroid condition.
