Yep, the beast will be out sometime this week. Wanted to wait for some rain to wash the salt dust off the streets. Got that, now just need some sunshine. (sunshine? what's that?)

AHHHHHH!!!!! So here is the deal... I had an appt with my dealer to get an oil change and i REALLY needed to get my car washed but didnt have time to go home and get it done. It was a sunny day and gorgeous outside so perfect time to get it done. I went to a Mikes Car Wash since they are a big nationwide business and are pretty reputable. Well, they scratched the crap out of my BRAND NEW Camaro and now they are trying to say it is "inconsistent with wash damage." HORSE CRAP!!! IT'S BRAND NEW!!!! No I have to wait for a district manager to contact me since I am OBVIOUSLY not happy with this whole situation. I told me wife I NEVER want to get it washed anywhere but our driveway for this reason... then, I am in a time pinch and get it washed there and look what happens. GRRRRRRRR!!! Anyone ever had an issue like this with a car wash company? Anything help to fight this? I am LIVID right now.... Oh man...

Welcome, alab32, to the Ohio thread. I'm so sorry about what happened to your car. What a bummer. What color is it? I've seen a few new ones around town whose drivers I can't identify. Sorry I can't help you - I wash my car on the street in front of my house even though my Oakwood neighbors don't like it very much :-)

I'll be on the lookout for you! I don't get Merlin out too often - I only live 3 blocks from work and have a '98 Astro (thanks to having 3 boys!) I use instead.
The only bad thing now about washing your car will be you'll get to see those nasty scratches over and over again :-( What kind of wax/polish do you use? I use Zaino and they do have a product especially for dark finishes that helps conceal 'swirlies' and other clearcoat surface flaws. See you around! |

Major Bummer! ![]() I gave up on those automatic washes years ago. Between the dirty brushes, dirty rags, and wheels that ride over your car, forget it, there's no way they won't damage your finish. And, you should be concerned about the soap they're using and the dirty, gritty rags the under-paid kid is using to wipe down your car afterwards. I won't even take my work-owned truck to the car wash. And work pays for the washes. Truth is, they really don't even get the car clean. Hope you can resolve something with the owners. Remember, they probably deal with lots of complaints each week, so stay on them. Their plan is to get you to go away. Don't go away. Go get a written quote to correct it, and become they're worst nightmare. In the end, it's just money to them. There are products that polish surface scratches, but it's tough to get perfect by hand. You either need orbital polishers or get a professional to do it. |
