Ive been in the Marines for 10 years now. I spent my 10th anniversary sleeping in the same squad bays I went to boot camp in. That was weird. We got put there for a shooting competition. The time goes fast. The strangest thing for me is having military friends that I know better than my friends and family from home. Its even stranger when they meet each other. Like Im living a double life. LOL.

you learn a lot about people really quick when you are packed into a foxhole together and nearly totally dependent upon each other.

turns out, the graduating class that I would have been in was sent overseas and only 6 of 23 came home on their own two feet. :(

Thank you. I'm sorry to hear about your dad, but just like you said, his friends will always be part of your family. on my wedding day, my groomsmen were my brother, 3 of my best friends from the military, my brother-in-law, and a mutual friend of my wife and I. by the end of the night, I realized that I had added more people to my family than I originally thought. My three best friends down here are my brothers and will always be a part of my life.

My Dad was a proud WWII Navy Veteran and also a 60 year VOLUNTEER fireman in my home town...

mere mortals... I like that. I'm nothing special. I just chose a route of action and continued on the path. I have learned a lot about life and myself over the years. I look back at old pictures of myself and think "what a tool."

but like I said, I'm just one man doing what I can.

I remember my anniversary, but I have trouble remembering her birthday.... what I've done to remedy that is to break a watch. seriously, I set the time on the watch to 7:30 (july 30) and pulled the wind up pin out of it.

In my parents garage spending the last few sleepless nights putting the final touches on my science project that went on to win my partner and I 2nd place in the Houston science and Engineering fair. That was one of the coolest and most stressful events of my scholastic life. We did several experiments on semi-permeable membranes with the focus being dissociating oxygen in water and making a self supported diving suit with no need for external tanks (think really big fish gill) we started working on it in November of 03 and finished literally the night before the show. one of my cars only goes in reverse... actually, it should still have 3rd gear, I just need to tow the car up to about 35 mph to force it into 3rd...
