I knew your day was coming up here but forgot the exact date. I know things will work out great and I hope school goes better than Fenwick's Chemistry class.
Can't wait to fail this quiz tomorrow.

I have nothing but love for those who sacrifice so much. Thanks isn't a big enough word.

Crazy how time flies, eh. April 1 will be 16 years to the day that I showed up at basic training. 4 more and I can become Mister again. I enjoyed your post, man. It hit home.

The time goes fast. The strangest thing for me is having military friends that I know better than my friends and family from home. Its even stranger when they meet each other. Like Im living a double life. LOL.
you learn a lot about people really quick when you are packed into a foxhole together and nearly totally dependent upon each other.

ALTHO.... I do have some up close and personal pictures on my external hard drive of Jesse Jame's Wheelie Humvee when they were building it in Iraq for Monster Garage.

I stand out in a crowd... online or in person. I've been told that I have an aura about me

it was good meeting you as well. As soon as you got out of your car, I turned to Josh and said... 50 bucks says thats Justin. lmao

Thanks
when I first joined, they offered me a $15,000.00 signing bonus if I would have gone EOD (explosive ordinance disposal). I'm very glad that I didnt.
turns out, the graduating class that I would have been in was sent overseas and only 6 of 23 came home on their own two feet. :(

RIP.

My dad was a Marine and died way too young, I miss him dearly...But the friends that he had made while serving will always be part of my family...I know where you are coming from when you say friends for life..no matter how often you talk to them...

I'm looking forward to C5F and shaking your hand in person!

Ronnie
Thank you. I'm sorry to hear about your dad, but just like you said, his friends will always be part of your family. on my wedding day, my groomsmen were my brother, 3 of my best friends from the military, my brother-in-law, and a mutual friend of my wife and I. by the end of the night, I realized that I had added more people to my family than I originally thought. My three best friends down here are my brothers and will always be a part of my life.

You guys/gals are my heroes and I try to thank each and every one of you here on C5 that are in the military!!!...

My thanks also include the firefighters and police officers too...

My Dad was a proud WWII Navy Veteran and also a 60 year VOLUNTEER fireman in my home town...

mere mortals... I like that. I'm nothing special. I just chose a route of action and continued on the path. I have learned a lot about life and myself over the years. I look back at old pictures of myself and think "what a tool."

but like I said, I'm just one man doing what I can.

you already have. we dont do this for the glory. some do it because they had nothing better to do, some do it for their family, some do it because it was better than what they were doing before, and there are plenty of other reasons, but we dont do it for the discounts at the store, or the free drinks at the bar, we do it because it needs to be done.

Spike, thanks to ya brother for doing the same nearly a decade and a half later, thanks for your service, and best wishes on opening this next chapter in your life!

Home Depot is like Toys R Us for Big Boys!
I remember my anniversary, but I have trouble remembering her birthday.... what I've done to remedy that is to break a watch. seriously, I set the time on the watch to 7:30 (july 30) and pulled the wind up pin out of it.

thanks man. Home Depot, Lowes, Autozone, Advance, Jegs, Summit, are all Toys R Us. lmao

That was one of the coolest and most stressful events of my scholastic life. We did several experiments on semi-permeable membranes with the focus being dissociating oxygen in water and making a self supported diving suit with no need for external tanks (think really big fish gill) we started working on it in November of 03 and finished literally the night before the show. As I said we ended up taking 2nd place (to a kid with tens of thousands of dollars of backing). Having to give presentations to professors, military officers, and politicians was very intense but so very much fun. Especially when the military pulled us aside afterwards for several meetings on our project.

Very cool!

Major respect for you Spike and what you have done and sacrificed to keep me and my family and this country safe. You put yourself in harms way of your own free will for a country, that at times, hates you. For that you, and all our service men and women, will always have my greatest respect.
sometimes its not of free will, but I just remember that I swore an oath. and I keep my promises.

one of my cars only goes in reverse... actually, it should still have 3rd gear, I just need to tow the car up to about 35 mph to force it into 3rd...

but I've got my 78 back.... so a bigger project is in the works.
