For all those that ordered the past couple of days and your dealer is getting 5-10 Camaros according to their computer system did you ask how many would be SS?

I called my dealer to ask about how many they would get. I called 3 dealers as a matter of fact. All three said 6 units through 3rdQ 09.

So if each dealer is only getting 6 Camaros through next September, how many of those will be SS models? 2 maybe?

The dealers also confirmed that sold orders go against their allocation meaning if they're alloted 6 and have 6 sold orders, that's it.

So for those that ordered SS models did you make sure the dealer would get enough SS models to fill your order by next September? Are you gonna be upset if you don't get your car until August 2009?

Don't be so sure...the first 4 or 5 units they get could be V6s. Then what? That'd be August before you got yours if you ordered an SS.

Yeah i did get a SS actually a 2SS with RS and they are only getting 3 and the other guys are planning on getting the same thing just different colors. They were supposed to come in later that day to order theirs.

hmmmm... If I were to go in and change my 1SS to a 2SS... do you think this would change my priority ranking? Because right now I'm #1 at the dealership. Do you think they would slip me back because I changed the order?

My dealer said they had an allocation for 5. They told me it dosen't matter SS or not the 5 is however customers configure them.

I don't know how many of theirs are SSs, but I know that it's a decent number and we got the 1st one.

I was first to order and I got a SS2 and a guy was coming in as I was leaving was ordering a SS2 also. i know I got my order number!

Pretty much what I was told to. They order what you want, they will get it. The only thing is that , yes, if the plant produces all V6s for the first two weeks, then ya, my SS may arrive later. So what, it will arrive.

As for this being the allotment thru Q3? Possibly. Scott said there are approximately 3000 Chevy dealers in the US. Some are getting 4 while others are getting 20 or so and a few larger dealers are getting 50 or 60 some cars. From what i've seen, i'm going to guess the average is somewhere between 15 and twenty, tops. If it's 15 then that's 45,000 and if the average is 20 that's 60,000 Camaros in 6 months. Double that for a year and the total number falls between or over the 80 to 100,000 projected. Some people will indeed be waiting.

That means that your dealer gave you the lowest possible number for your order to hopefully get your car built first. Now, we have all read the GM disclaimers that even though we have ordered, that in no way ensures or guarantees that GM will in fact build your car........It's all CYA on their end. And you can't blame them either.

I have Priority #1 on mine as well. And yes, I had to do a little dealer education yesterday as well.

All we can do at this point is sit and wait for production orders to be dropped and start taking bets on who will get their car first on the forums.

Good luck to everyone on getting their car as soon as they can. Unfortunately, they can't all be built at the same time, so as someone mentioned, some of us will be waiting for our cars to arrive. But what a wait. It will be worth it when you take that first ride home..........
